there are so many facets to the site its hard to explain. I can say this that I look at every single item on the menu on the left side at some point every week or so. I'm not locked in to trading either long or short so I'm always looking for a stock which is presenting a specific movement in one direction or another for any number of reasons. Barchart provides me with plenty of stocks (leads) which I then apply what they have to say about the stock into my own interpretation of its chart and my own parameters. It's the leads that I am looking for. I also write and run my own scans along with theirs in the never ending search for viable leads. you can never have enough leads to peruse thru. Barchart will do that for you to a large extent freeing up your time and energy.Originally posted by Deaddog View PostHow do you use this site?

Boots,Originally posted by bootsmagee View PostI still consider myself very new to investing (2nd year now) and continuing to learn. I look at new 52 week highs through stockcharts.com automatic scans a few times per month. I pick stocks that show strong overall uptrends for a year or more, and I add them to a watch list. When I have available funds, I go to the list and look for dips/good buys. The rest of my picks mostly come from tips through this forum that look good to me. I'm also just beginning to research and build on strong dividend payers for strictly long-term holds.

Sounds like we have similar styles. How do you find picks? Right now I'm scanning with finvis for new highs with decent fundies ROE ; debt/Eq; profit margin.

I made a small quick profit off of SIMO about a year ago, your mention in this thread made me look it up again. I like the chart, so I'm in to give it another go.Originally posted by Deaddog View PostYou just along for the ride or is there method in your madness
