I guessed that his trend points were MAs but wasn’t sure whether he use EMA or SMA, also wasn’t sure which ones he used. My guess would have been 8, 21 and 55.

Thanx for the great flow sheet ......EXCELLENT WORK!

NO the 5/8 system is not Jack Carter , but something I read on the internet awhile back. Jack from what I can ascertain , sets his stop based on the 20, 50 200 EMA averages he uses when plotting the stocks. For me that system is abiguous.......I like a more precise exit. The other program I like is www.dreamtai.com beautiful program that gives you a BUY price , STOP , and also tells u how many stocks to buy based on your portfolio size.

Exactly!! Thats why it would be nice if you'd answer the questions you get asked. For the third time, is the 5/8 exit strategy from Jack Carter?

Dead we are all hear to learn , one must keep an open mind and entertain all thoughts on the matter. That is why I like Mr Market Is Huge .
I am all ears when it comes to NEW methods , but as we all know not all will be gems.

    Scratch POT Trade;
Buy MSTR on a breakout play @100.70

POT gapped up and I missed my entry. Nothing else on my list looked good. ENB had possibilities but I ran some quick scans and found MNST.

This is what I consider to be a Jack Carter Pick.
Hitting an all time high in a nice uptrend.
Stop at 97.90 with a target of 110.

Dead the next 5 days Tuesday til Monday 1/24/12 will provide us with some results ......then we can evaluate what happened.
What happens in the next week is meaningless. It’s a crap shoot. If the market goes up we’ll probably make money. If it goes down we might lose some. Over the course of a year it’s only 3 trades.

It shouldn’t make any difference if you win or lose the contest, what should matter is whether you make any money or more important if you limit the amount you lose.

I sort of understand how Jack picks a stock. He looks for stocks making new highs, that are trending upwards, that have the probability of moving a couple bucks or more in the next 2 to 10 days.

What I failed to get out of my book is what happens after ten days?

You said that we have different books. I’m just trying to determine if there was more info in your book than in mine. Mine didn’t mention the 5/8 exit plan. Is that a Jack thing?

There are quite a few stocks that meet you criteria.
How do you narrow the picks down to 3?

What is it you like about CIE? It has stopped going up.

That my friend is about it. CIE perhaps BEST approximates a Jack pick!
