Eleven months ago this Mr. Market darling became #37 in his Hugeness's line of winner + 15%.
Always conduct your own due diligence and I am here just rambling/sharing my thoughts.
I see fundamentals continuing to be strong, with both top and bottom lines soundly beating estimates.
The stock has tanked today with chatter of a DOJ investigation regarding eight deaths associated with their guardrails, as well as possible improper relationship(s) with the Federal Highway Administration which passed the safety tests for the guardrails.
Although the slimy lawyers are jumping on the bandwagon I am not buying this as nothing more than politics and a sleazy smear campaign (which TRN has been subject to for years from a competitor). Yes, there will be legal costs. Yes, I may also be wrong to minimize this PR fiasco. However, I see a very good diversified company, who makes most of their money in rail cars (and not just guardrails), with a PE of 7. (Eleven months ago the PE was 12, which was also very low.)
This is one of those questions: "Is today's sell off an overreaction?"
I think so and putting my money on it, as I just loaded up on TRN at $28.77.
