First off, keep in mind this is coming from an avid MM follower, easing up on I think 3 years now.
Many of you may have noticed, but MM is very close to having an entire portfolio of stocks that are down quite a bit, most of which with no rise in sight. This is bound to happen if you buy stocks and never sell them until they are positive at least %15. Amazingly it will have taken more than 4 years for this to happen to MM, although it has not officially happened yet. What should he do? Obviously he is very keen to preserve his streak of winners, and thus the respect of his followers in general. HOWEVER, I think there is a way he can keep everyone's respect, and even get MORE respect, and at the same time lighten his load of seemingly dead stocks.
"But Dave, how can he do this?" you ask.
Simple. Dump ALL his currently negative stocks that are fairly old in the game. Basically everything pre-2005. Just dump them all at once.
"But Dave, he would be taking about a %30 loss on average if he did that!"
Well, Big F-in Deal. I am going to do all the numbers tomorrow, but I am quite certain that once you figure out his overall percentage gains since his first documented trade in Jan-2002, you will find that he is up BIGtime.
Sure the streak will be gone, but it will be gone in STYLE, possibly combined with a weekend in Vegas or the like.
Any comments?
