    • Another possibly interesting wrinkle using this contest's initial set of picks would be to run a second set of portfolio results numbers at end of the year, where those stocks in the list that had lost, say, 8%, were sold as of that day and their proceeds split evenly into all the remaining stocks in the contest. One might think that the total returns for that second list will trump the returns for the entire initial list. But it might not because the losers that are sold at a 8% loss might reverse and do well by end of year. We would also want to know, for each stock that was sold due to an 8% loss YTD, what was the return for that stock from the sell day to end of year. (This second approach would be a contrived kind of contrast to the proverbial buy-and-hold strategy.) But that comparison would be interesting. As of today the POTY contest has 5 stocks with double-digit percentage losses YTD.

I saw when UUU broke out the other day...too bad I didn't know about it before the 10th...I could have controlled all the daily action...The only reason I saw it though was because I know this guy with the screen name UU (Just 2 u's) at another forum and he mentioned it...Doug

                10 up 15 dn 1 unchg'd...Not too hot overall today...But Lye's ECOL was up over 5%, Ray's GHM up just over 4% and Mimo's ENER +3.7%.

Is it too late to join this one? If there are rules posted, does anyone have a link?

Only 11 up, 14 dn and 1 unchg'd today...Mickey's BWNG bounced back +4.77% although it was up at one point 9.3% intraday. Mimo's ENER +3.93%, Photon's WFMI +3.87%, Ray's GHM +2.89% and Grebnet's APLX +2.71% turned in good showings too.

I will be going out of town on Friday afternoon...back Sunday...So this week's
y-t-d standings will not be posted till Sunday evening...Doug(IIC)

                        Mr Market Stock Contest 2006

                        Close on 3/3/2006

                        Mickey is now $$$HUGE$$$

We have a new leader...Mickey with BWNG up a whopping 78% (Up almost 18% just on Friday as Cramer touted BWNG Thursday night)...He overtakes J who is still continuing his march towards 100% at 62%. Rounding out the top 3 is Mr. Market himself at almost 43%.

Our YTD A/D/U improves to 17/9/0 as Billy goes green.

We have an overall average gain of 12.07% this year...Naz Comp is +3.88%, SP 500 +3.03% and the RUT is +9.38%...Of course...we are still kickin' the cr*p outta the CSSGX +7.93% vs. the close on 1/3...

I used the open on 1/3 for the indices... But I used the close on 1/3 for the CSSGX since they are entered in Billy's Celebrity Section of the contest and funds only price at the eod.

Our celebrity picks are doing pretty good. Their top picks aren't quite as good as the Mr.Market crew and their bottom picks are worse than ours, but overall they're better than I would have predicted.
