    Mrvl

    Dear All,

Any thought on MRVL? It gapped up last week following BRCM's good earning.
It's earning release is due on Feb 23.
Lately I have not been so lucky holding stocks over its earning release and am wondering if I should get out before.

    Thanks,
    Rico Frans

I usually don't hold stocks through earnings. If the report is bad, the stock falls. If the report is too good (i.e. they don't think they can do it again), the stock falls. If the report is good with a little extra juice, then the stock moves up. Two out of three are bad. Too risky for me.

The chart shows MRVL at all time highs. Our market environment is very bearish. Probably going to take a hit because people think that the economy is going to slide, and MRVL won't be able to continue its earnings growth.

If you have a profit, I'd take it. You can re-enter later. Remember: this is just my opinion.

      NBB,

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate and will consider your opinion.

BTW, I have never traded options and thinking that it may be a solution to hedge for a volatile movement such as during the earning release. Any advice on good option trading books?

      Thanks,
      Rico Frans

Thanks sir. Seems a good site to learn options.
Hope you don't mind if I ask some stupid questions - I will post it in your Option: Low Cost Investing thread.

          Thanks,

Going to keep an eye on MRVL. Appears to be trying to put in a bottom. Also looking at possible gap support on the weekly chart!
