  • Today's re-cap

Here's a quick skinny on the stocks I wrote about today:

First, ICE, Intercontinental Exchange. I was blindsided by a bad press release by MarketWatch which caused a big sell off in the last 40 minutes of trading, dropping ICE over 5%. I am long in ICE with a cost basis in the 40's. I was going to put a 67.25 stop on it, but placed an EH order (which was executed) to sell the entire position at 68.20. Still made money, but it was a bad call to post about it early in the day.

UARM, up 7.95%, but I think it is at it's peak for a little while.

CNXT, up 1.60%, but not worth going into at this time unless you are looking for a play toy.

SGP, down 0.27%, but I remain bullish here

MTU, up 1.03%, still believe there is room on the upside here.

OPTC, up 5.81% and remain bullish for the time being

XWG, up 0.84% and believe this has great long term potential

CMT, up 0.12% with room to move.

Disclosure: I am long in UARM, CNXT, SGP and XWG. I do not have any interest, at this time, in OPTC, MTU or CMT.

Two weeks ago I picked PLB (Italian American Pasta) at 4.15. I wrote that I thought this was going to be one of the biggest turn-arounds since EP.
It is now trading up to 6.40 in EH this evening.
    Anyone here get on it?

I just sold off 500 at 6.81. Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughter. I have yet to set a price for the remaining 500, as I am basically playing with free money right now.

                THANK YOU SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was reading through your posts a few days ago, saw the PLB mention, and bought it. I probably bought it for all the wrong reasons. I bought it because you said you thought it was a good turn-around company, I like pasta and lastly, I had $500 to use, and at $4.07, it fit my budget. I know that was wrong, but it worked out for me.
I only bought a 100, but I got them at $4.07 and it’s now at $7.25, I will probably sell in a few minutes and take my $300 profit on a $400 investment.
WAAAHOOOO! My first big winner, ever!

Great call Adman...that's about as good as I've ever seen on this board.

CORRECTION: In the interest of fair play, I had this on my screen, and watched creep up, and looked to $3.25 to enter, but missed it, and got in at
                      4.03, not 3.25.

You're welcome, and I'm glad it worked out for you, but did you at least do a little research of your own before you invested?
I must caution you, it is not wise to invest blindly on a recommendation without doing your own background check.
I am sure it won't happen here, as the board will not tolerate it, but it is easy to get sucked up in a pump and dump dupe, investing that way, especially if you choose stocks by their "cheapness" versus potential or fundamentals.
Just a word to the wise, and I am not trying to diminish your big win in any way.

Not such a great day on my choices, here’s how today’s picks went:

                          ESCL, up 3.25% (73 cents)

                          PD, down .82% (59 cents)

                          PCU, up .01% (a penny)

                          AZ, down 1.32% (22 cents)

Wild cards: HPQ down 3 cents and ATVI down 13 cents.
I still maintain that the above will show modest returns over the next couple of weeks.

If anyone went into NTN last week at 1.35, you are doing well. NTN is up over 20% to 1.63, posting a 5.20% gain on today’s good numbers. This is a cagey little stock that I have for sentimental reasons only. If you have picked up a gain on this one, you might to well to take a profit and move on. I’m off to start my Saint Paddy’s weekend bender. Enjoy the weekend and happy trading!
