    Ib

Has anyone had problems with them? I find that their customer service STINKS!!!!!!! Also may I ask, when a simple buy order gets placed, who's fault is it that it just sits there for 5 minutes or so before execution - AMEX (in this case) or the traders platform being used?

I do not like placing trades with IB. I place orders that are GTC and they disappear, among other things, and have gotten ZERO in the way of answers for anything to compensate. This mornings delay caused me to have a $60 loss right off the bat and it's been over two hours since they were going to look into this. So has anyone else had similar problems.

Let's answer your questions one at a time:
    1. You can chat with a customer rep while online. I have never found there service to be poor. I hope your experience is an aberation.

    2. When you place a buy order on the AMEX, it does not function like an order on the NYSE. The reason is not the fault of IB; the reason is that the AMEX functions this way: they don't buy your shares until they have a buyer; they don't sell to you unless they have a seller. On the NYSE the broker HAS to buy 100 shares from ANYBODY at the bid price.

    3. I have only had satisfaction with IB. Sorry that you are not satisfied.

      Thanks NB.
I haven't heard back from them yet but your answer pretty much answers the most pressing question, that of why did an AMEX buy just sit there for 5 minutes. Strange though that the IB rep would not know this, don't you think?

Anyway, As to why my GTC orders didnt keep, they "don't know" that either.

oh well. But thanks again, for your answer.

How long ago did you put your GTC trade in? You see, IB tells you that every month you must re-enter a GTC because they wipe the slate clean at the end of the month. I personally don't use any GTC functions, but I did stumble upon that answer for you, if indeed you did place that GTC in April or earlier.
