One of my childhood heroes, now senator Jim Bunning--KY, just said in an interview that Bernanke has more effect on the stock market than do the terrorists. He said " I told him to keep his mouth shut unless he's talking about monetary policy" Right on , Jim !
For those of you who don't know, Bunning was a major league baseball pitcher mostly with the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies from the mid 1950's to the 1970's. He pitched no-hitters in both leagues including the first perfect game in the NL in 84 years. He also won over 100 games in both the AL and the NL and struck out over 1000 batters in each league. He is in the baseball Hall of Fame. I actually saw him pitch in my youth.

ok..let's see.... economic growth is steady but we are seeing inflation because of higher energy prices which seems to be termpering economic growth and keeping it in check.
So what does Bermanke do? He raises interest rates to keep inflation in check...
