These are not part of any portfolio of mine, but both may be a MOMO candidate
Except for the very low volume I can appreciate the play on TGIS as a stock looking to make the right side of it's cup. I love these chart patterns just like it is right here but I wouldn't call it a momentum play. I'm always looking for the ones coming up off the bottom looking to form that right side. MED is one just like it but has a little more substance than TGIS. I like the play but not the volume. Anything is worth a shot if you like it and have a plan for entry, stop, and exit controls. These chart patterns and plays off these patterns can be somewhat of a gamble so just keep a close stop on it. MED is a very similar type of play and is up .79 from my entry at the close today. Good luck with it if you go. I couldn't justify calling it a momentum play.

When, for whatever reasons and there could be many different ones, buyers come back into a stock with such force and volume that the upward momentum has people stating that the strength looking forward has the momentum behind it to carry it further upward continuing the trend or perhaps downward in the opposite case scenario. But there has to be strong movement beforehand in one direction or the other before you can call it momentum.

Sorry but you'll have to post a nude photo to prove that claim.

                        Steel Industry consolidation

I have been telling you about the steel industry consolidation for a while, now. Other people are talking about it as well. Here's an article from Dow Jones:

                        By Jackie Range
                        A DOW JONES NEWSWIRES COLUMN

LONDON (Dow Jones)--This is no time to be selling shares in Corus.
True, the value of the Anglo-Dutch steelmaker's stock has jumped nearly 20-fold since its 2003 nadir, and is up around 20% this week on bid speculation.
But Corus' shareholderscould be on the cusp of seeing a vigorous auction for their company which would see the share price go higher still.

Tata's acknowledgment it's mulling a bid for Corus (ticker: CGA) is just the latest sign that consolidation in the steel sector is likely to accelerate after being galvanized by Mittal's (ticker: MT) takeover of Arcelor.

But the Indian company is highly unlikely to be the only company in the race for Corus.

Severstal's priority right now is polishing up its London IPO plans, but the Russian company mightfind it hard to sit back and watch Corus be bought by a rival. Severstal's abortive attempt to tie up with Arcelor showed the Russian company's appetite for external growth.

Then there's Companhia Siderugica Nacional (ticker: SID), or CSN, the Brazilian producer that Corus tried to merge with in 2002, also a possible contender.
There's a commercial logic for Corus in linking up with any of these low-cost producers - and one that CEO Philippe Varin has been diligently arguing. The company line is thatCorus' distribution network and technology would combine well with a partner's lower-cost production assets and access to raw materials.

Varin has worked to get the business in shape for a deal - bringing it back to profit and selling off the bulkits aluminum business - bringing him kudos along the way. The French executive's name has been floated for top jobs at Peugeot and Anglo American.

To be sure, it wouldn't be all plain-sailing for an acquirer. Corus' U.K. assets are high cost. Plant closures here would be politically dicey.
The lack of a stock exchange announcement from Corus despite a rocketing share price indicates there haven't been any official approaches so far for the company.

But Tata clearly likes what it sees. With talk of a 580 pence bid all over the market, and Corus' shares trading at 463 pence, the question for Tata is whether to wait for some of the froth to disappear, or jump in right now with a bid before the competition gets there first.

Even if Tata decides to walk away, Corus holders should hang on for the ride because their company is one of the few opportunities left for a non-European steelmaker to get a foothold in one of the world's key steel markets.
