Guess what??? I made the final purchases for the portfolio. I bought AP @ $33.50 and I bought B @ $20.15.

It was not the best entry for AP. I've been watching it throughout the day and I just don't see it slowing down for some time. Fundamentally, I'm pleased with the prices paid for the positions. Technical entries for a few could have been better. After reading Spike's comments about B (thanks, dude!), I decided to place some stops on the position just in case the C wants to come and get me.

I'll update the portfolio changes (if any) on this thread during this coming quarter, and note the changes on the original Earnings Growth post. Wish me luck!

well, I can only guess, so here it goes.

He has been running an incredibly successful hedge fund based solely on a mathematical model.

He has basically liquidated that fund.

He want to start a fund for institutional investors that has a long term horizon, developed by the same people that developed his short-term model.

Lastly, we are all insignificant morons compared to his quants, so we can't really garner anything useful from that article...oh, except that the longer our time frame, the more likely we are to be correct.

Just a guess...no one knows how to predict the future.

                Hey everyone,

I don't have much time to post right now, but I've done some checking on some of my past holdings and I came across SPSX. I have a note on it from mid-Oct that tells me to look below the $37 area to buy back in. I don't have time to post a chart, but I think that the price is at medium technical support, and today might offer a great long entry. I don't know if I'll have the time to see how it trades today, but it looks like an important day- not just for SPSX, but for the entire market!

as a side note: SPSX was an Earnings Growth holding last quarter, and did make the initial list this quarter as well.

                Here's a quick chart: LINK

                        Andersons

I've been keeping track of the Earnings Growth screen green picks and when I was reviewing the weekly movements, I saw that ANDE was making strong moves to the upside. As a matter of fact, it was one of the best performers on the entire list. This made me look a little deeper into the company and the chart, and I see that I may have initially skipped over a real gem when searching for my top 5.

ANDE, as of Nov 4, has a P/E of 10, P/B of 3.06, P/S of .4, current EPS of 3.39 and projected EPS of 5.15 (52% growth) for next year. Though the P/B doesn't make you think this is cheap, the other figures are outstanding and with current projections, and the recent quarterly results which confirmed the growth potential, this company is selling at a huge discount to both current earnings and projected earnings.

Here's what I think of the chart:

ps. sorry about the misprint- it should read, "SHS reversal formation", not "HSH"

I'm a buyer of ANDE, and will hold this in 2 portfolios of mine. This will be part of my LT portfolio.

It's the best short term MACD indicator that I have been able to use on nearly all stocks. I got it from a very good chartist that no longer posts in the same place, so I can't ask him why these parameters work so well... they just do.

                              Peanuts,
ANDE has close ties with ethanol. They ship grain in their tankers and took a big hit as oil dropped as you may know.
