I did notice that some of the very strong steel stongs like ATI and others were quite weak yesterday given the market strength and may be a result of that news. I suspect their RSI's dropped considerably yesterday.
ATI should not have dropped due to this news. They are a net exporter of one of their types of steel. Silican Steel for the electrical industry needs to be made in a special operation. ATI has a the smallest BOF in America to do just that. And to think that they nearly sold off this business to the Germans a few years back... it's one of the biggest money makers for ATI now. This is information that Wall Street does not know, or does not disclose... Now you know why ATI is huge. They actually SUPPLY China with steel!

ATI does not have galvanizing operations to supply plate to the automakers. This is most likely just a healthy pullback.

Their largest meltshop (and the BOF) is literally 3 miles down the river from me.

        Peanuts,
ATI has been down before , this year, and has always come back stronger than ever. Down nearly 10 points this week. Wouldn't be surprised to see many points up next week.

I read somewhere that while the stock price languished over the past 8 years or so, the intrinsic value went up over 60% during that time. The value guys have been all over this one lately because of that.

I think that CAS will soon make a big move in one direction or the other. It looks like $25 is long term and short term support. Nickle stockpiles and pricing have been in the news alot lately. 2007 is expected to see alot of action in the metals markets. CAS should see considerable swings in pps, and may be worth trading for those traders that follow metals.

            Long term view:

            Short term view:

So, what do you think? Will the move be up or down?

                        Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley (ticker: MS) will spin off its Discover Card unit.

I just might buy some MS today. It just reported outstanding quarterly results, and I think it wants to unlock some shareholder value by selling off Discover Card. Buying MS today will most likely assure some shares will come your way, or you will be offerred the chance to buy Discover Card shares when it trades independently. MS also looks to be breaking out to new highs. The stock looks strong already, and I think this news will draw even more interest.

By itself, this chart looks vulnerable. But what exactly is the industrial group?

The company itself is diversified into metal fabrication and distribution, and also plastic shapes distribution. They supply to alloy makers and also end-product users. Much of their product volume is in nickle alloys which is a very lucrative business as demonstrated by PCP's acquisition of Special Metals (a high-nickle alloy producer). These alloys specs are demanding, but very profitable due to high demand of the aerospace industry. All commodities have been on an upward price march, and CAS should benefit with higher margins by passing the buck to their customers...

The chart looks so weak, however.

Its a tough call as far as trading goes, but if I were feeling aggressive I'd be short right now with tight stops since this looks to be the pivot level right here.

And here's my TA thoughts on MLP's 1.5 year chart:

Also, Gwhiz, I think more people go to Hawaii in the winter, and last I checked, I've got snow on the ground, here
I think MLP is ready to go higher. Currently sitting on 20 week EMA @ $32.20. Today is the third day in a pullback after a 10% 2 day run. Volume has really picked up and MLP recently had a positive mention by Motley Fool. It may test the 20 day EMA @ $31.68 today or tomorrow.

Land in Hawaii ain't cheap, but MLP sure seems to be just that... cheap! My dad already owns this stock, and loves it!
