bring on those Minnesota Twins!!!!!
Detroit is done for this year. They traded for Nefi Perez from the Cubs. That's all the proof I need. Stick a fork in 'em. They are done. Too bad those Tigers don't have MM for a GM. That kind of stupidity would not have happened.

You know we deserve it. Did you see the play early on where Cano (sp?) hit a grounder under Lowell's glove and without missing a beat made the turn and went right to second while Pena loped in to pick up the ball. Both ball and Cano were right there in front of him and he did nothing and it just seemed to typify to me how much better so many Yanks are then are guys.Originally posted by mrmarket View PostOuch...it looks like the Yankees might take 5 in a row from the Red Sox!
Reminds me of that play two (?) years ago when Jeter went leaping into the stands to catch a ball while Garciapara sat out the game with a sore toe or something.

I don't think you can take anything away from either team but the Yankees did play much better in every facet this series when the chips were on the table.Originally posted by mrmarket View PostAbsolutely brutal...without Varitek, the Red Sox aren't even a .500 teamTHE SKIRACER'S EDGE: MAKE THE EDGE IN YOUR FAVOR

New-born,
Watch out ! I've been a Detroit Tiger fan for 50 years and they are not done. They'll go on another spurt and the Twins will fold. Ha Ha !! Too bad for the Red Sox. I don't think they will recover from the latest disaster.

Detroit has to be the baseball story of the year. Great pitching but their offense always seems to score runs. They are going to be there all year.THE SKIRACER'S EDGE: MAKE THE EDGE IN YOUR FAVOR

My Crystal Ball says the Dodgers in 6 over the Yanks in the World Series...YIKES...When my niece was here for the month from Brooklyn we had a couple of big arguments about that...One night she gets her father on the phone and he starts getting all belligerent about it...LOL"Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"

Tracey has done nothing for the Pirates, yet. Mark Cuban was once seen sitting with Kevin McClatchy at a game... so who knows what may be in store for my lousy Pirates. Great stadium, terrible team.Originally posted by IIC View PostMy Crystal Ball says the Dodgers in 6 over the Yanks in the World Series...YIKES...When my niece was here for the month from Brooklyn we had a couple of big arguments about that...One night she gets her father on the phone and he starts getting all belligerent about it...LOLHide not your talents.

The Pirates are essentially a major league farm team. They develop players and when they get good and want to be paid more, the Pirates let them go because they can't (or won't) pay the higher salary. It wasn't always like this. Our last good team was back in the early 90's. It was so long ago that I can't even remember which year we were 1 game away from going to the World Series. That's when Bonds was building his career, Doug Drabek was the leading pitcher in the league, and we had a batting lineup that today would challenge any manager to this day. Speaking of managers, we had Jim Leyland and crew. After the strike, and a bunch of foul ups by the owners, the Pirates got sold and starting the building years... 10 years ago.Originally posted by skiracer View PostDidn't the Yankees get Craig Wilson from the Pirates recently. He's solid in the field and hits pretty good. Why did they let him go. Just to cut salary?
Craig Wilson was one of my favorite players on the team. He is a multi-use player (3rd, outfield, 1st) and has a strong bat. If anything is bad, then it is that he is not so fast. The Pirates did not "cut" him... they traded him and got players and money to help them in these "building years."
It has been very difficult to be a Pirates fan over the years. I do not even remember the last time we were in contention just to get into the playoffs. Honestly, the best thing about the Pirates is their stadium. Did you watch the All Star game? It was in Pittsburgh this year.Hide not your talents.
