          billyjoe,

I invest considerably in micro and nano-caps. Be very careful here. Recently this sector (if you can call it that) has gotten no respect. Money seems to be going into mid, large, and mega caps. (Just my observations of the Wilshire 5000 and Russel 500)

You missed A LOT of stocks, though.

          They for use were made.

              Peanuts,
I consider these the most profitable and I'm too lazy to type any more. In Oct '05--Jan '06 I tracked what I thought were the best 36 of these little guys and they averaged 21.23% gain in little more than 2 months. Strangely HOM ranked 35 of 36 with a loss of 19.85% @5.25. Luckily I held some which I sold at 14. After that they seemed to go down the drain. Maybe it's all shifting to large and mega now.

Jim Jubak, columnist for MSN money, advises that if you believe the 4th quarter is going to be strong, invest in good companies with traditionally high betas , the thought being that low beta stocks will lag behind high beta stocks as the rally gains steam. If the 4th quarter is a bust , the opposite strategy would be used.

What if you think the market will be flat in the 4th quarter?

Sold BLUD today @25.71 , 15.10% gain in 6 days , bought MO @78.46. Altria (MO) took a hit in late Sept. with lawsuit against lite cigarettes. The tobacco stocks always get the judgements reversed and the 200mil. judgement is already priced in. With an over 4% div. and probable Kraft Foods spinoff I'm banking on this sin stock.

I put in limit orders for SAI which had their IPO today. At 16.95 it looks as if I'll be out in the cold. Last time I looked it was almost 18.00 and rising.

Came across an interesting free e-mail newsletter that happened to be featuring TLF my POTY contest stock. Sent free to your e-mail box daily it is the Knobias Small Cap Clip Report for stocks under 500mil. cap. The Oct.13th copy I read was 10 pages including a couple pages of ads. They spotlight one smallcap stock each week giving pros and cons from the bulls and bears point of view along with financials and a short history of the company. They don't pump micros and tend to give factual information including lists of the top daily movers /with news that may have caused the move, along with top daily losers, and strong closers of the day. They also feature after hours headlines, splits and dividends, symbol changes and deletions.
This looks better than most newsletters I see for sale. You can get more information by going to Knobias Smallcap Clip Report on google. All they ask for is your e-mail address and no other information.
