    Dodgers Stink!!!!

I went to the Dodgers-D'Backs game this evening...They led 3-0 in the 1st but then they got blown out...Went with my wife and took her boss's 2 sons ages 6 and 4...Left in the 8th...The 4 yr old asked if we could go home in the 2nd inning...so I bot him some peanuts...kept him occupied till the 8th.

I used to go all the time in the 60's thru 80's...Don't remember the last time I went though...But I guess I'm outta touch on the pricing.

We got the tix and parking free...But if we had just gone down there and paid for the seats we had the whole night would've been pretty expensive IMO:

    4 Field Boxes @ $70 ea. = $280
    Parking $10
    3 hot dogs, 2 sodas, 1 peanuts, 1 Nachos, 1 crackerjacks $40
    Program $4

    Total $334

Whoa!!!...Large beer was $12...I passed...Heck, I could buy an 18 pack of Bud for less than that.

...I shared season tix for field Boxes one year in the early 80's...I think the same tix were only like $6 back then.

I'm with you on this one IIC.... I love baseball and I love to go to games.... Nothing like the feel of being at a live baseball game....

Try minor league games, they're better, less crowded.... and cheaper too!

    BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

I love to go to the major league baseball games but the cost of going to Yankee Stadium from the gas and parkways tolls, tickets (even for cheap seating), and just having something to eat and drink has forced me to stop goint except maybe once a year. If my wife and I go alone it's a $350 bill for sure. Like Lye says, you can go to a minor league game and top out at $50 for everything. There is a team located right here in Lakewood, NJ that won their division and championship this year. They are part of the Philadelphia organization and their stadium is beautiful with great seating wherever you sit. You can't beat it if you like baseball and just like to go to a game every now and then. The majors are pricing themselves out of existence and it will be only a matter of time before you'll see this happen in my opinion.

If you ever find yourself in Toledo, go to see the Mud Hens play at Fifth Third Field right in downtown Toledo. With a seating capacity of 10,000, it's a great atmosphere that has helped the Mud Hens win the Triple A International League Title 2 years in a row, despite losing several players to it's parent club, the Detroit Tigers.

I think that most minor league teams and stadiums present a pretty good game for alot less money than the majors. Good baseball on any level is hard to beat.

Mud Hens?.... What the heck is a Mud Hen?....SsSsSsSsssss.... http://www.mudhens.com/ Looks like a good organization Billy. The website says they set attendance records this year. They are a AAA team (International League).... That's a couple of steps above our local A Carolina League team.

Speaking of Mud.... My favorite Minor League team just happens to be the Carolina Mudcats out of Zebulon, NC (Southern League AA)..... I have a lot of family in that area and Minor League baseball is pretty HUUUUGE down there too. http://www.gomudcats.com/

Now about an hour south of us.... In the former and last Confederate capitol of the CSA.... Nestled in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge and with the bold Dan River flowing through it's center is quaint Danville, VA
http://www.visitdanville.com Jeff Davis loved Danville and so do I.... Ahhhhhhhh, Imagine the City Danville could have become if Oooooooonly.... Oh sorry..... Baseball..... Well, they have a red hot (Rookie League) Minor League team, The Danville Braves.... They won the Appalachian League Championship this year. http://www.dbraves.com/

Speaking of team nicknames...Here are a few of my Faves:

                Scottsdale Community College "Flaming Artichokes"

                UC Santa Cruz "Banana Slugs"

                Yuma H.S. "Criminals"
Funny...I actually took a tour of the Old West Territorial Prison in Yuma in the early 60's http://www.yumahighschool.com

So. Dakota School of Mines "HardRockers"

Union College of NY "Skating Dutchmen"

Blooming Prairie High School, MN "Awesome Blossoms"

                Orofino HS, ID "Maniacs"

                Goodrich HS, MI "Martians"

                Freeport HS, IL "Pretzels"

Devil's Lake HS changed their name a few years ago:

The high school received national attention in 2002 over its controversial nickname, the Satans. Several parents refused to send their children to the school due to this nickname. In 2003, a poll was conducted of the school's students to pick a new, less controversial nickname. The winning name was the Firebirds.

                AND MY ALL-TIME FAVE:

                Watersmeet HS "Nimrods"
