Investment Opportunity ==> Manufacturers of Wooden Baseball Bats

Legislation in New Jersey will most likely pass a law which will outlaw the use of non-wood baseball bats. Once this happens, I would assume that many states will quickly follow before next spring.

I think you can make some money if you can find a publicly traded company that makes wooden baseball bats.

UPS makes bats...not that I'd buy them based on that.

Why not look at the other end... short sell the aluminum baseball bat manufacturers?

What about sellers/distributors of baseball equipment... shouldn't they also get some extra fat to chew on?

I know for sure that Nike (NKE) is making a major push towards aluminum bat manufacturing (well, they don't "manufacture" anything- they'll outsource it, I'm sure- probably to the Phillipines)) Easton doesn't have any good information, and Louisville Sluggers are already wooden bat makers, but it is a private company.

Sorry, the only stock play I could find was NKE, but they are so much more than bats.
      Hide not your talents.
      They for use were made.

        Mr.Market,
They use only aluminum bats in high school and college now, right? Some of the shots to pitchers heads in the majors this year would have killed them had they been hit with aluminum. Faster bat speed and probably velocity leaving bat. Human reaction time wouldn't be fast enough. One death in college ball and aluminum bats are history. There used to be a wooden bat manufacturer in Plymouth NH years ago. Babe Ruth and his cronies came to town to check out the wood and pictures were taken with him swinging.

Correct. They now use these "flex" type bats that actually whip around like a golf club to increase bat speed.

I am hoping they pass the law because the aluminum bats help the smaller kids hit the ball further. Trevor is 230 lbs. He don't need no stinkin aluminum.
