OK, I'm jealous. Some of the posts around here are really good and quite informative, and all I can do is type a few words. I remember some of this being discussed on someone's thread a long time ago, perhaps on Doug's.

How do I get a formatted spreadsheet, like the ones peanuts posts for POTW results, into a post?

Don't have a need to immediately, but also how to include annotated charts?

    regards ... stenz

I'm sure that you can do it through MS Paint, which has a few more steps and takes more time, but for a one time charge of $39.95 you can purchase Snagit 8.2 and then you can capture charts, webpages, anything you want and annotate them and then upload them to ImageShack.com (free service) and from ImageShack upload it to here. Pretty simple process with Snagit. Not sure how it works with MS Paint. Can't go wrong with Snagit.

ImageShack is free and I think the site is www.imageshack.us. Just register and follow the instructions. You can download your capture from Snagit and upload it to here from ImageShack just like I did with this Excel spreadsheet. Snagit 8.2 is $39.95 but it's fast and you can do a whole lot with it.

There is a free screen rip utility that I use. Not sure how much less it offers than Snagit.
Webs.com has been shut down on the 31st of August 2023. Find out what that means for your site and how to move it to another provider.

I just registered at imageshack, will try something later today. Thanks for the tips.

Here am I with my son and two of his friends.

The original is bigger, not sure what I did wrong here, but it seems to have been downsized when uploading to imageshack.

              Stenz...????

If you do I was going to give you an easy way to post annotated charts.

BTW...You don't have to register to use imageshack.us

                Doug,
I don't subscribe, but I do use stockcharts. I even play around with the annotation tools, just can't save my annotations back to stockcharts. I can capture them with my screen rip tool (or even just Alt-PrintScreen). So, I can get images into local files, my issues (in this particular area, we don't have time to get into all my issues) are in getting those image files to imageshack and then to here.
                regards ... stenz

                  Stockcharts

Doug, I have a basic subscription to Stockcharts, and have not been able to figure out how to post annotated charts here. The annotation is just a pop-up. Can you help? Do I need the more expensive subscription? River

                    The Basics:

To post images such as Spreadsheets, stock charts, and pictures:

                    1) goto: http://imageshack.us/
                    2) click the browse button and find the saved file and click 'enter'
                    3)

                    4) click "host it"
                    5) wait while the image uploads to the imageshack server and then find the option that says, "direct link to the image" (usually this is the last link that is given). Copy this link.

                    6) You now have to use that link in the post you want to make.

                    7) After you do this, you can preview the message to make sure everything worked.

                      Spreadsheets as images

To display information from an Excel worksheet (as in the POTW scoresheet):

                      1) highlight the cells you want to display
                      2) right click (your mouse) within the shaded area, click 'copy' from the info box that appears.
                      3) open your image editor (Usually this is Microsoft Paint, found in 'All Programs' -> 'Accessories')
                      4) Use the image editor's paste function to display your highlighted information.
                      5) Save the file as a name you will remember, and in a place you won't forget. *** bitmap images (filename extension .bmp) and JPEG images (filename extension .jpg) are acceptable by imageshack, make sure you choose one of these types of files.

You need to have at least an EXTRA membership to upload your annotated charts to your Favorites list.

I do that sometimes...then when a chart is in my Faves, whether it is annotated or not, I simply Right Click it...Left Click SAVE PICTURE AS...Name the file and put it in My Pictures as a .png or .bmp....Then I just go to Imageshack.

In Imageshack I copy the address it gives for HOTLINKS FOR FORUMS (1)...You don't have to use the image feature here mentioned by Peanuts...it is already coded to do that.

Now, if you want to post an annotated Stockcharts and cannot save it to your Faves, then you can Press the PRINT SCREEN key on your keyboard...Paste it in Paint, Save it in My Pictures...I prefer saving it in .gif. But then you may need to Crop and Compress before using Imageshack.

Or you could buy Snagit 8.2 for $39.95 and get about a dozen different types of captures available, manipulate your capture in any number of fashions from resizing to borders, annotate, draw lines and to many other things to mention. Also can save everything right there in Snagit and can bring any capture up and edit immediately any previous annotations or anything else to the capture. Works perfectly with ImageShack for uploading to here. But the best thing about it all is the speed involved in useing Snagit as compared to anything else from taking the capture thru annotations to uploading to ImageShack. I would venture to state that nothing is faster or easier with alot less steps.
