Week 48, Day 5—“... Is the Apostrophe”

Correction: Riverbabe covered her BIDZ short at the open on 11/30. The opening price was 12.40, as opposed to the 11.52 closing price above. As a result, Riverbabe still wins the gold, but her weekly total is 27.72%, not 32.85%. Sorry for the oversight.

The wording appears to discourage but not prohibit the picking of ETFs.

Basically, since I somewhat unwillingly began keeping score again, I have been adhering to the rules as they had been when I wrote them, with the following two exceptions: (1) The 3% penalty instead of 5% for no-shows, and (2) Getting the opening price from the minute following the entry instead of the opening price of the same minute as the entry.

My thinking is that since ETFs trade just like stocks on the open market, they are allowed.

I'm also thinking that if I continue to keep the score in January 2008, I'm going to disallow penny stocks, which I would broadly define for purposes of this contest as any stock under five bucks. That would not eliminate all the wild swings but some of them.
Thanx for the clarification .........it has been most helpful

    Go to amex.com

expand on the ETF Tree ( at the left)

Choose product category from drop-down list at the top right: List all Products

Scroll down to PowerShares DB Agriculture Fund

PowerShares DB Agriculture Fund DBA Sector PowerShares DB Multi-Sector Commodity Trust

Are we permitted to use ETF’s in this contest? (see rules)

Mr. Billyjoe, your score is correct in the table but not on the graph. Little glitch that I don't have time to fix at the moment ... but the universe will be back in balance tomorrow.

You said it is an ETF, i.e. an Exchange Traded Fund. So in asking "Which E?" I meant, "Which Exchange?" I do not know what an AGR Trust is, but looking around on http://www.amex.com I cannot find DMA anywhere. What am I missing? I'm not trying to be difficult; I just don't like being in the dark about something I probably should know.
