Week 12 is over
Week 12 - Mr. Market's Chemistry Class
Day 5 - The bell has rung, class is over
The big golden prize this week goes to Riverbabe for her wonderful work on keeping us all safe from the liberal media's twisted views on global warming- plus, she gets to work on her tan at her own private beach. Tock-6 also kicked in a brand new 4 gal/mile Hummer for "undercover" work on Gore
Newpaper delivery boys across the world will thank Stenzrob because he applied his knowledge on gases to make this Schwinn into a rocket-bike. It also got him 2nd place:
And our resident stock alchemist, Spikefader, has given the world a brand new defense against losing money. It's big and fuzzy, and we don't know exactly what it is or how it works, and nobody can stop it from periodically blurting out "C," but Spike gets third, just because:

This week
I'd like to thank peanuts again for scorekeeping and $$$mr_market$$$ for providing the venue for us. Congrats to riverbabe and spike for their great picks.
My first pick this week was CRY. It caught my eye several weeks ago when setting a new high, and fundies, growth, etc. looked pretty good, so I kept it on my watch list. Figured it might be good for a bit of a pop after pulling back with the market. Second pick was DRAX. It's another that caught my eye setting a new high on increased volume, seems to have good growth prospects.
Neither of these show up on my usual screen - for POTW, I've started using a new method that I may use more for my real portfolio. That is, just look through the new highs list for smooth upward curves on steady volume, then check for fundamentals, growth and valuation against my usual screen criteria. In fact I bought some DRAX in real life, the chart looks real nice.
Please start me in $Cash for the next week.
regards ... stenz
