JetBlue Sucks!

Well I always wondered what it was like being one of those folks stranded on the airport that they showed on the news. Yesterday I finally found out, it stinks. If you've been watching the news Jetblue had people stranded on the tarmac for 9 hours. I was on one of those flights.

Total lack of communication, lack of planning and action. Terrible customer service.

I'm just pissed off right now because I'm supposed to be in LA so I figure I'll give them some bad publicity.

That's right. I better be elegible. I was actually on the plane twice, 1st time for 3 hours and then for 5 or 6 hours.

I tried calling them today but they're not taking any calls due to the high call volume, this is awesome. Bastards.

Passengers on like six Jet Blue airplanes were trapped on the runway on the tarmac inside the airplanes for 10 hours. ... CALL it the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Wednesday's blizzard, which swept from the Midwest to the Northeast, canceled hundreds of flights and left travelers stranded for up to 10 hours aboard their planes as crews worked to de-ice aircraft and clear runways. In fact, runway-sitting has become the national pastime this winter.

What's a seasoned traveler to do? Well, as someone once noted, "Laughter is an instant vacation."

Here are 10 out-there ways to keep yourself amused if you get stuck on a tarmac.

Individual results may vary.

1. Start up a conversation with a stranger sitting next to you. Possible ice breakers include:

a) You know, on Mars this never really happens.

b) Hey, that's a nice wig you're wearing.

c) In Attica, they'd never put up with this.

d) Wanna see my birthmark?

2. Write a phony last will and testament: "My name is _______. If I die here today, right here on this tarmac, I would like to leave all my material assets, including my Bentley and government bonds, to the hottie sitting in seat ___." Fold the paper 100 times and ask the flight attendant to deliver it to the hottie.

3. Play "Name That Body Odor." Rank them from 1 to 10. Give out small cash prizes. Ask the winners to stand.

4. Form a pool on when your plane might eventually take off. When someone asks how the pot will be split, tell them, "Winter takes all." Hint: Like an opening line, it's all in the delivery.

5. Tell everyone you're a talent coordinator for "American Idol." Scratch your chin and say, "Hmmm, wouldn't it be crazy if the next champion were sitting right here on this airplane?" Hold tryouts. Accept bribes.

6. To lighten the mood, wrap the seat belt round and round your wrist and yell: "ANYBODY HERE LOSE A SNAKE?"

7. Jam six volunteers into the tiny lavatory. Play "Tarmac Twister." Right foot, sink. Left hand, door …

8. Stuff something in your blouse (probably not the flotation device). Tell the flight attendant, "You know, when I got on this plane, I wasn't even pregnant."

9. Use the time productively. Organize your wallet. Clean your eyeglasses. Braid your tummy hair.

10. Act like an adult, exhibiting patience and saint-like understanding. These days, stuff like that can really mess with people's minds.

There is an article in today's NY Post (that I can not get online) claiming that Jet Blue tried to get the Feds to reroute planes in the face of the oncoming blizzard that was predicted. The Feds didn't come up with any alternative plan. Another problem Jet Blue had was that its baggage handlers walked off the job after 5 hours. You can't get people off a plane without baggage handlers.

Look, I've had some very good experiences with Jet Blue. And I never fly in snowstorm season, if I can help it. About 2 years ago, I bought a ticket on JetBlue and the airfare later went down. JetBlue issued me a 1 year credit voucher for the difference in the price, over 100 dollars credit. Sitting in a JetBlue wide, leather seat with a multichannel cable tv on the back of the seat in front of my face is the best way go. You know who really sucked? Eastern Airlines. They really sucked. And Northwest also sucks, in my opinion. They once also kept people in a plane for 12 hours in Detroit - and there was backup of flights at a major airline hub.

Also, what do luggage handlers have to do with getting people off a plane?

IIC, sometimes an article can't be found in the NY Post for a day or more. But you found the exact article I was looking for and was describing.

As to the luggage handlers being important, if a manager is making bad decisions in an overstressed situation, they maybe believe that people getting off a plane want their luggage so they can go home or arrange alternative transportation. If you can fly the people to another city, however, the luggage handlers still working there will take care of cargo hold. Yes, they should have obviously taken the people off the plane. I'm not defending the lack of luggage access as a valid reason to leave them on the plane, but it was a contributing reason to a bad decission.
