Due to the recent datafeed problems at Stockcharts.com they are offering compensation to affected subscribers.

Unlike in the past when they automatically added days to your subscription when they had problems...This time you have to email them to receive compensation.

Why don't you start a fundamental site?

I see that...Godaddy makes it a pain to check on owners w/o IE 7... but where there is a will there is a way...So, keep us posted on what you do with it...Maybe someday you'll hit the BIG TIME and be listed on my Useful Links page.

Actually...I am very interested to hear what your plans are...It would be great to see a site that combos IBD and Stockcharts type stuff.

              Doug,
I found out all about SharpTraders.com without IE 7. Also found some other very interesting domains that aren't registered. Maybe my fortune is at hand.

You can check domain names at a lot of places...However those registered at GoDaddy seem to have to be checked at their site...If I type in GoDaddy.com I get this message along with instructions to upgrade to IE 7:

Oops! Your browser is too old to view the GoDaddy.com site!

However, if I use this addy I can view the domain info:

                  Doug,
I go to godaddy.com site and when I check if a domain is taken it takes me automatically to http://who.godaddy.com/whoischeck.aspx?Domain.

If I register a domain that contains a trademarked name for instance if Walt Disney was somehow never registered, can the company stop me from using my domain property since they own the trademark? Thanks

                    Doug,
I registered a domain name for a soon to be multibillion dollar IPO but it's probably worthless since the main word is trademarked. I'm pretty sure stockfundies isn't trademarked and if someone tries, I get precedence if I was first with the domain.

Maybe...maybe not...I believe you would have to actually establsih a public presence in order to preserve it.

I have the Gov't site to check trademarks and servicemarks at home.

                        Doug,
I was thinking my best bet was to not establish a public presence but just put it up for resale when they get hot. What could they accuse me of? Apparently it wouldn't be a trademark infringement if I never did anything with the domain other than own it. If it's illegal for me to buy it then it must be illegal for godaddy to sell it. Does that make sense?

                        ------------billyjoe

Did you check out some of the bids on the domain auctions? Something that seems to make no sense with $50,000 bids. Crazy!

That is not true Billy...I've owned some trademarked names before...I'm not gonna post the details here but you can email me if you are interested...Not worth it.

You are VERY late to the party...My idea years ago was to buy up names and get someone I know in a foreign country that was not part of the Madrid Protocol to put up a site...Unfortunately during the process that country joined the Madrid Protocol...I knew enough to not contact the trademark owner to try and sell the domain names...That can get you in BIG Trouble...So I frinally cancelled them...Which is a HUGE hassle in itself....Interesting story how they changed hands in Central America and Africa though...But I'm not gonna post the details.

If you don't know what I'm talking about then you are outta your league and I suggest that you just forget it...Anything you are thinking of getting away with has most likely already been tried...You are about 10 years late to the party...Sorry
