River...I see...What happens with me at stockcharts is that after I annotate I can save it as a live chart or a static snapshot...Using the method I mentioned doesn't work when trying to save in the annotations mode.

I have the Real Time service and I think the Extra Service lets you save them the way I explained too...Guess the Basic Service doesn't let you do it and the free service doesn't let you because there is nowhere to save the chart.

However...for free, Non-subscribers can post a Non-annotated stockcharts chart the way I explained it.

Anyway...The way you did it looks good...The only thing about Print Screen is that it only takes a snapshot of what you can see on your monitor...also, when I use print screen I crop off the excess in MS Office Picture Manager...I also resize it and then when I go to imageshack I use url and I don't have to resize...I just click Host It...then I copy the HotLinks For Forums 1 link...that way I can just copy paste it on a forum w/o using the link feature... The 45 seconds does not include annotation time...many of my posted charts are not annotated but my listed Step 1 would start after I already did annotations if I did any.

Also, once in a while imageshack will hang up for a minute which delays things...but 9 outta 10 times it works almost instantly w/ each click.

Okay, I have tried annotating a chart in stockcharts using the basic subscription. I have tried to upload it using your system, Doug. But I don't get the options you mention on a right click or a left click or at the bottom of the annotating screen. I used Peanut's system of ALT Print Screen and ran the Windows paint program, according to the "instructions" listed for "printing." And it worked to simply save it in My Pictures and upload to imageshack from there. So here it is, for all of you who don't pay the big bucks to stockcharts for the big $ program.

that seems almost incredible from start to finish. snagit which i think is as simple and expedient as can be takes longer than that. with snagit you click on snagit to bring on the screen, click on the type of capture, draw the rectangle around what you want to capture, annotate whatever you want and click done. it will ask you if you want to save it and if you do you know the drill and your done. go to imageshack and go through that process and upload it to mm. 45 seconds is fast. that must be after all the annotations etc. are done and then the capture and upload. seems real fast to me. very good.

there are so many others who don't understand how to transfer words into a picture and a picuture will tell a thousand words. i think you feel that i am trying to give you a hard time when really i think everyone should include a chart with any prediction on a stock or market direction. in this instance i thought you were a little vague on your time frame whereas a chart would provide that. but no big deal. take a look at Snagit.com. they have a program that costs $39.95 and lets you make dozens of different captures easily and you can save them all wherever you want. with imageshack.com's free upload you can easily bring them over here. snagit is about 5 times as fast as doing it thru paint, and you can annotate and draw etc., and saves you many steps. anyway good luck with bringing a chart over here sometime. it really will make your posts much more interesting.

This the way I post stockcharts charts:

THIS IS A POST I MADE AT ANOTHER FORUM RECENTLY:



If you do not have Microsoft Office Picture Manager or you want to post stuff that will not allow you to "Save Picture As" in My Pictures there are a couple of other ways that I can post later:



Now, posting of charts without having to go the the print screen procedure is much easier...For example, here is how I post a chart from Stockcharts:

1 Right click the chart

2 Left click "Save Picture As"

3 A window will pop up that says "Save Picture"

4 Left click the drop down menu

5 Find "My Pictures" and left click it(You may not see "My Pictures" as a choice...If you don't see it...Left click "My Documents"...You should now see a "My Pictures" folder...Left click the "My Pictures" Folder)

6 Type a name for your chart in the "File Name" box.

7 Below the "File Name" box there is a box that says "Save As Type"

8 The "Save As Type" box has a drop down menu. At this point I would suggest you save your chart as a PNG. If PNG(*.png) is not already in the box...Left click the drop down menu and then left click PNG.

9 Left click the "SAVE" button. Your chart is now saved in your "My Pictures" Folder.

10 Go to this website (there are others but we'll use this one for now)... http://imageshack.us

11 Left click the "Browse" button.

12 A "Choose File" window will pop up.

13 If it doesn't pop up with "My Pictures" in the box next to the drop down menu then left click the drop down and find My Pictures like we did up in Step 5.

14 When you are at "My Pictures" left click the picture of the chart you want to post and left click the picture.

15 Left click the "OPEN" button.

16 Go back to imageshack.us and the address of your picture(chart) will be next to the "Browse" button.

17 Left click the "Host It" button.

18 Sometimes it takes a minute or so to upload your picture when imageshack is busy but a page will appear with a bunch of different addresses you can use depending on what you want to do with your uploaded picture.

19 Go down about half way to where it says "Hotlink For Forums (1)" ...ONLY use this one..Do not use the address they give you for Hotlink For Forums (2).

20 Uncheck the box(over to the left) that says "Include Details"...To uncheck the box just left click it.

21 Copy the address to the left of where it says "Hotlink For Forums (1)"

22 Paste the address in your post


PS: Sometimes you will have to "Double Click" when I said to right or left click above.

ALSO...At stockcharts make sure the chart you are going to save is no larger than 700...and no landscape charts please.

There are other ways to post charts but although the above procedure seems long it only takes a minute.

One last thing...I had this problem with my laptop...I couldn't find My Pictures...every chart kept going to some Windows Viewer thing...I finally figured out how to change it but it was so long ago I can't remember how I did it.

3.) Open the program, Paint It can be found under 'Start' -> 'All Programs' -> 'Accessories'
4.) goto the 'Edit' menu and select 'paste' The screenshot you were looking at before should appear on the screen
5.) edit your chart or image the way you want all of us to see with text annotations
6.) Save the file in a temporary folder
7.) Goto http://imageshack.us, then do the following:

place the saved filename (use browse to find it on your computer) into the box next to 'url' (it is not neccessary to give them your email address), make sure you have the proper information filled in as shown below, and then click 'host it'


8.) Now goto Mr. Market's Forum and post a reply. There are some buttons at the top of the reply box. Click the one with a Mountain on it and paste the last link given to you from imageshack into the user prompt box.



Wah-la! Now your posts show us what you are looking at yourself, and we can all get a better of idea of what you are talking about.

so that means that you can say anything that you want whether it's absurd or factual and you expect anyone to accept it just because you said it. any decent technical analysist would be happy to post a chart with his annotations explaining his position. all you produced was dialogue and nothing factual to back it up. show us a chart with something to back up your assumptions.

LOL....IIC POSTED a chart and i commented on it...any decent analyst should be able to follow what i said....its not rocket science LOL...if u cant then thats your problem!!!!

it says i exceed the upload limit.....if someone posts a chart of the S&P i will comment on it.....but the bottom line is we have a high of 1556 with no volume....what 1.3 billion shares....we went downtown on july 26 with 2.8 billion....hit the B point on Aug 6 with 2.3 billion at a price point of 1427...again pushing lows with volume....that says the stock wants to go lower!!!! We went back up on aug 8 with 2.6 billion shares to a price point of 1503 which is your C point. Now on Aug 9 it failed to even get up the July 26 downdraft day and had volume off of that with 2.8 billion and then on Aug 10 had volume of 2.6 billion at the bottom at the retest...again way too much volume at the lows which says the S&P is breaking a hole in the floor to the next level down....no volume at the highs lots of volume at the lows...its going lower...now A-B=1556-1427=129 and since A to B should equal C to D.....and C is 1503....D is 1379....now if u look at the chart this is awfully close to the March 07 lows of 1364....which it will test..if we have volume at these lows....its going alot lower....that is all i will disclose for now!!!
