Before I left for home this morning from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, I took some pictures of Research in Motion (RIM aka RIMM). I have passed it every time for years traveling from my hotel to the retirement home where my mother lived. Just thought you might be interested. I think most of the manufacturing is done here. About 12 years ago I stopped in to visit because the law firm I worked for (still work for) does all the US patent work for them, and I was shown a prototype of the Blackberry. The senior management person I talked to told me that very soon I would be able to access my email from anywhere with this device. I was WOWED. In any case, the pictures you see here are of a very few of the 20+ buildings of RIM that are located on 2 streets adjacent to the University of Waterloo which is famous for its Engineering programs, as well as Computer Sciences and Math. Most of the students are Asian.
I was stopped twice this morning by 2 different security guards asking why I was taking pictures. I told the truth. Half my friends are invested in RIMM and I wanted to post the pictures on a stock web site. They said okay, as long as I kept the pictures wide angle. I said, heck, half of them are directly into the sun anyway.
