    GM: My Trumpet is Ready!

I'm getting ready to blow "TAPS" for GM a once great company. Its very sad to see a great company sink into such an abysmal morass. A combination of factors contibuted to its present precarious position. Building gas guzzlers no one wants, overpaid union employees, inferior quality cars ( I remember all the Buicks my dad and aunt had that conked out on the road and were plagued with costly repairs) and a really serious problem .....their involvememt in the subprime mess. China is soon to export cars that will sell in the US for 10K - 12K and will get SUPER Gas mileage. Bottom line SHORT GM, Sell any GM bonds you may have and watch carefully and close your short position ....before GM bites the dust and goes BANKRUPT!

I seem to remember hearing about a car that was going to be made in China about 3 years ago that was to sell for under $5000 and essentilly be a throw away after 2 years...That actually wouldn't be too good unless they could be recycled tho.

The solution to the recycling problem is very simple , just pay a few bucks to Al The Bore Gore and buy a few of his Carbon Credits .......then you can dump all your Chinese wrecks on his front lawn. That snake oil salesman has one good HOAX going. I also remember the church selling "Indulgences" years ago. That process basically gave "Sinners" a free pass into heaven.
But never over estimate the intelligence of the American public......PT Barnum said it best ....."There is a SUCKER born every minute" LOL!

How can you say "stupid management" in a Christlike manner? If you can tell me, that's what I want to say. It is horrible to consider. And don't think that won't hurt the USA, either. It will be bad for the USA.

NB GM Management was not up to par

NB Warren Buffet is my idea of a good manager. He lives a modest lifestyle., and his primary concerns are his shareholders and the success of his enterprize ......apparently the management at GM was not stupid ......but perhaps not 100% up to the job. . Unfortunately many CEO's of large companies are interested in primarily "feathering" their own nests .......and not concerned as much with the shareholders or the company itself.
There are exceptions ..... the Starbucks CEO and guys like Ben & Jerry's .Those people put their heart and soul into a business .....and they do have empathy for their employees , the company .....and the world community .

At GM, it's the same old story: the union is bankrupting the company. The management didn't fight to keep sanity, so the goose that laid the golden egg is about to die. Tisk. Tisk.

My dad for many years worked for Hoffmann-LaRoche and retired due to a mandatory retirement age, which at that point in time was 65.....not that he had any regrets. The company NEVER had a union......but the union always tried to get in ......but was rejected by the employees. Employess received Christmas bonuses , generous hourly shift differentials, paid vacations up to 4 weeks, a super retirement plan, full medical , and even a box of Lindt Chocolates ( Which I never liked ) at Christmas, along with a $75 Christmas bonus check which my dad still receives yearly since his retirement. My dad has been retired for 30 yrs ,and to this day receives all of his pension and medical from the company, for both himself and his new wife ......my mom had died several years ago.
Of course Hoffmann-LaRoche made a mother lode of cash on Valium and Librium.....but was not adverse to passing it along to their employees.
That was one super company !
