    New to the board

Hello everyone, I also introduced myself in the cup w/ handle topic, however I decided to make another one here....

I am 23 and in medical school, I currently have about 2 years worth of investing although I took some time off, but it is time to get back into it now...

My method of choosing which stocks to get into is by using fundamental analysis to find good strong companies and then I try and narrow them down with good technical analysis... although I am fairly sure everyone here knows that, that is easier said than done.

Well anyways just wanted to say hello, and hopefully we can start making some money!

    welcome, jae

Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders. You'll be a welcomed addition to the board.

Do you use a service to narrow down the fundamental stocks for you, or do you have a base of knowledge to determine what makes a company fundamentally sound?

Well... I use my own knowledge, however I use a program that narrows down the stocks to any parameters that I choose... but it doesn't select anything for me...

In fact, I just use the MSN stock screener... which IMO is very useful (and very free)... It is easy to use, and I can select between nearly 100 parameters I would say just making an estimation....

After I find those... I look at the charts manually... although... I am still trying to sort out a system that works for me... I came here in hopes that I can throw some ideas off you guys and hear what you have to say...

        Jerry,

What kind of stocks did your latest screen find? Fresh ideas are great! What are some of the parameters of your screens?

Well one of the stocks that I just found that is showing some pretty solid fundamentals is PFMG, after a nice run up a few months ago it has been stuck in a range between 38-40 kind of bouncing up and down...

CADA is another stock that I have been looking at... absolutely great fundamentals... however its been in a bit of a downtrend... I can't figure out why... I am sure if they keep on this pace, they will see a rise soon... the EPS yr over yr is absolutely wonderful for CADA... but who knows

as for my parameters... I will list off one of the current systems I am using... (this is a fairly strict screen that brings me up usually less than 30 stocks) i also use others...

eps growth qt over qt > 16%
eps growth yr over yr > 23%
          % Inst ownership > 5% < 35%
          Shares outstanding < 25,000,000
          12 month rel. strength > 75%
EPS > 0.5 dont want any stocks that are negative but making gains
          ROE 5 yr avg > 5
Current price within 20% of 1 year high

this is a very basic analysis that I use... there are no secrets here... I think my weak point is determining which of these to eneter and which to exit... thus my technical analysis is what I need to improve...

Please make any suggestions or critiques to my model...

In addition to this... EBIX has great financials... but again... I think I may have missed the boat on this one...
