Glad to hear it...Now I don't think C is going under or anything (Otherwise I'd close the account I have with them)...But they are not in very good intermediate term shape

I wonder just how "strong" the entire banking system in the US is at this time.

What about brokerage firms like IBD?

Tons of news and tons of volume. Don't know which way to go with Citi.

Stay away, unless you are shorting it. It is close to time to short C again.

                          Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum, and, also, relatively new to investing. I read this thread and wanted to jump in, as I am thinking of buying citi. Considering the price it closed at on Friday, and... yeah, I know I'm going back to the question that started this thread, But I would like to ask what would you recommend? Do you think it would be wise to wait a little longer, or take a risk that seems reasonable, and jump in at the current price?

                          Thanks!

Don't waste your money here at this time. You'll be sorry that you bought a stock that is going down, down, and down some more. If you are new to investing, I would imagine that you do not know how to sell a call or buy a put. So you have no protection at all.

Looking at the market at this time, I'd tell you to stay on the sidelines for awhile longer. This market is headed further South, imho. As for C, the PnF looks like she has two possibilities: $22 or $19 as its ultimate low. If $19 fails, it may very well go completely bankrupt. Not looking for $19 to fail just yet; I am just saying that you want to look at an entry at $22. If that fails, $19.
If $19 fails, run for the hills.

                              Best wishes to you always.

                                Thanks!

It's nice of you to advise. It's interesting, you are obviously more experienced than I am, but I don't think Citibank is that much of a bad bet, considering that it seems it has already taken most of the hit. The way I see it - buy it for a couple dollars more, or couple dollars less - it has pretty much reached the bottom, I personally don't think it's gonna go that much more down now. I can place a "limit order" for a price of 22.0 Would you say this is the way to go?

Thanks again, to you and the other person who responded.
