Most reliable cars. Based on repairs needed to cars made 1995-2004.
    Honda and Toyota

I sold my 1998 Honda Accord for $600 more than I paid for it 3 years earlier and it had 284,000 miles on it. There were several people wanting to buy at the same time. One was a tow truck operator. He said " I never have to tow these cars". On the other side, my Ford Taurus has left us stranded so often that I didn't report all the tows to the insurance company even though I had insurance. It once needed towing 3 days in a row for different problems and broke down before I could drive the 8 miles from the repair shop. These problems started well under the 100,000 mark. We are driving 2 Hondas and 2 Toyotas now and the Taurus is sitting.

On a somewhat humorous note especially since it didn't happen to me, my brother in law bought a Pontiac 6000 from my sister in law a few years ago when the car had relatively low mileage. He said " How can I go wrong, everything has been replaced except the exhaust and the transmission." The exhaust system fell off the car within the next week and the transmission went out a couple weeks later. I don't know what became of the car, he stopped talking about it.

Billie I have an 06 Hyundai Sonata

Billie I bought new in 05 a 2006 Hyundai Sonata .....about yr ago had problem with windshield washer pump......the dealer replaced it free while I waited, and have never had a problem since . I absolutely love the car ...it is fully loaded and cost me 23K .....it pays to bring in ads from other dealers and get the Consumer Reports guide for around $12 ( It tells you what dealer pays, any hold backs incentives etc) Going into a car shark dealership without preparation is asking to be "fleeced"
My Friend just bought a Brand New Cadillac 08 CTS fully loaded and the list was over 50K , he said the dealer was so anxious to sell ....even the salesman told him to hang around , because the dealer would make him a better offer ..and he did.
The car is nice and luxurious .....but I think my ride in the Sonata is actually better .......and the navigation system is in a screen which rises up from the instrment panel.....and is SO COMPICATED ,,,,,my friend went back to dealer for help with the Voice Commands ..... and EVEN the salesman could not help him, he was also clueless. How reliable is Cadillac's supposedly Best Ever Car? Who knows.... only time will tell

        Pete,
The dealers are true con artists. We recently bought a lease return Toyota Camry with 30,000 miles on it. They were advertising 0% interest. All the cars had a dollar figure for a monthly payment. I told them the number meant nothing because they wouldn't tell you how much down or how many months. I told them I'd pay 1/3 cash and wanted the monthly payment on the window. They said the payment would be higher with 0% interest. Then they finally said OK but there would be no warrantee. The manual in the glove compartment said the car had a transferable 6 year 60,000 drivetrain guarantee so they agreed. Finally their financial guy tried to stick us with an extented warrantee that ran concurrent with the existing one but cost over $1000. He said if the moon roof broke it was over $2000 to repair but I didn't bite. Ended up getting it at $1600 under average price on auto trader with 0% interest and have had no problems.
