    Beware E-Bay scam

I just got scammed along with a few hundred others on E-Bay. Here's how they did it. Sell 100-200 items and get a decent rating, then list a few hundred items as fast as you can (in a day or 2) and have very low starting bids. You may only make a few dollars on each item but when multiplied by 2-3 hundred you're making some coin. You have an excellent rating so nobody suspects hanky panky. You get the $$ never send anything and as your ratings tank you're long gone. However if paypal tracks you down or tries very hard to find you, you may be toast. Beware

Hey! I own stock in eBay! Buy with confidence!

    Billy,

I never buy anything that isn't covered by PayPal buyer protection. I sent a guy $70 one time for a really cool pair of Tony Lama western boots with a black widow design on them. They never arrived, and I got my $70 back from PayPal.

From the PayPal Buyer Protection page:
Purchase protection on eBay — PayPal Buyer Protection.

When you’re shopping on eBay, look for items that are covered by PayPal Buyer Protection.

With it, you get free protection of up to $2,000.00 USD on your purchases. To determine if your item is eligible, look for PayPal Buyer Protection in the Seller Information box on the View Item page. When your transaction isn’t covered by PayPal Buyer Protection, you may still be covered by our Buyer Complaint Policy.

To review guidelines for filing a claim and for specific terms and conditions, please review the PayPal Buyer Protection Policy and Buyer Complaint Policy in our User Agreement.

I think you can set your bids to automatically beat other bids up to your ceiling amount???
