I've been in a few penny stocks and I don't recommend it. They are penny stocks because they constantly dilute the float with more shares to keep themselves afloat. Since the companies and floats are so much smaller, there are a lot more "pump and dump" and "short and distort" schemes surrounding them. Considering a company might have $500k market cap, someone might buy up 5% of that ($50k) and pump it so that another $50-150k worth gets bought up by naive investors and then dump it for a good profit. This is why margin accounts require 100% maintenence on these. They are also much more volatile and have relatively big spreads percentagewise. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone...

      Lot Of Pump And DUMP

Most penny stox are promoted by unscrupulous traders looking for the quick ....BUCK. They lure you in with some BS stories......and then they liquidate their own huge positions in these penny stox ....leaving the investers....oops I mean suckers holding the empty bag! Perfect examples are ETGG and UOMO !

Pennies can be a lot of fun...particularly when the overall market is in the doldrums. Look at EGMI.OB...it was in my top 5 and already up 70%.

Some of these tiny guys make money..you just have to be sure you can trust their financial statements...and watch their balance sheets!

I did buy EGMI.OB at .74 and sold about 2 weeks later for .94 for a 27% gain!!! Unfortunately, I was only able to buy $200 worth. I am new, somewhat young and started with a small amount of money. It was a good win. I would like to see STAR come through for us soon. Thanks for the picks... you are HUGE!

Mr Market , I find that it is difficult to obtain financial info on the OTCBB and Pink Sheet stocks, and you cannot set stop losses. That having been said , with the diligent fundamental analysis you do .....I am sure you can find winners!

I've lost a lot and made a lot with pennies. The trick is to realize that 99% of them are scams and learn to play them like scams.

SMWF is a scam , in my opinon, but it doesn't matter. I bought it last Friday at .0001...Today I will sell it for at least .0005. jejeje...

( I report back later, with my sell price)

Webs, that sounds really cool/fun. I didn't know there were stocks that traded for less than a penny, .0001??? Will you let me know if you come across a good one again like SMWF?

                    Thanks, Steelman

The trick is to get in and out fast....I've learned never to hold a triple zero penny for more than a few days. 99% of them are scams.

I bought UOMO.OB because of the hype and volume this week. I bought $100 at .48 and sold the shares for .94. I am sure it was a pump and dump. It seems like they might be in a few days before they put "the news" out there because about 2 days before I heard about it, it was at .25-.30. If the company that is pumping it owns shares, then they need it to go up a little right? It sounds like you can go for a quick ride and get out before they dump their shares and the price collapses. Do you think this is out it works??

Successful companies aren't born, they're made - and they have to work their way from humble beginnings and through the ranks just like everyone else. Unfortunately, some investors believe that finding the next "big thing" means scouring through penny stocks in the hope of finding the next Microsoft. Read on to find out why pinning your hopes on penny stocks could leave you penniless.

I'm a rookie investor with limited funds but I can afford to lose everything in my brokerage account. So, from that vantage point I do look at penny stocks for up and comers believing they will greatly outpace the market. I don't gamble on ideas and press releases though, I look for companies that have real products and real profits (or at least cash flow positive) in growing markets. As an example, I'm a big believer in a company like NFES. Not pumping them, just using them as an example of what I consider an up and comer penny stock vs the promises of instant riches.
