    Software Help please...

    Hello Stock Friends...

I have lost 47% of my stock portfolio with "World Funds" over 2006 - 2009.. I have liquidated all my funds and transferred my cash to a discount brokerage. Ever since I have been learning about trading and investing myself. I have attended over 8 seminars so far.

The reason for this post is the thinkorswim seminar i attended. It was explaining the aspects of the desktop software where once could place trades using f1 key, sell using f2 key, of course, you can program quantity etc effortlessly. One key feature of this software is the stop loss function, in that you can buy 1000 share of a stock, with a parameter in the BUY menu, to sell the stock if it drops a certain %.. i was really impressed with this, as i do not have this option in my questrade web menu.

Please help me find a software where this otion is there. I am a COMPLETE newbie to this. I have been trading since march of this year and my portfolio is up 96 dollars its again completely luck as i had one stock C that saved the rest of my portfolio which sucked...

I love this site.. please help me find a good software that has stoploss function.

    Thanks

Software is restricted to your broker. I use Scottrade and it sounds like you've got enough equity to have access to their Scottrade Elite software which would give you a nice software package to work off of.

I use TD Ameritrade... they have something called trade triggers. You can use them to trade a stock within the parameters that you are looking to achieve. It is also very easy to program. It has pull down menus and simple boxes to input the price thresholds.

As far as the buy and sell orders, they do not offer quick keys. However, the trading platform is very fast and to enter or exit a trade takes a maximum of 5 seconds once you get the hang of it.

You can also get a lower commission rate if you call them
