    Skiracer,

"opportunity to maximize the trade much more than 15 % with a few well placed stops to protect those gains"

I bought HRBN @ 14.49 and have a limit order to sell @ 17, this stock is going to hit Mr Market's target of 18.21 .

Which trailing stop method do you use to lock in profit and maximize gains ? % or $ ?

      g,
here's that chart on HRBN. its the weekly and what i basically based my logic on with my plan and entry. pretty simple stuff once you get the hang of interpreting these charts. not right everytime but right a much higher percentage of times than not which makes it work out.

I had joined this board sometime back. I am still a newbie to the markets, and the downturn in the markets (as a result of the subprime) had me a little disconcerted for a period. As a result I stopped looking at the markets when things tanked and hit the initial lows.
In recent months I have been looking at the markets a lot and made some money on the volatility. I decided to log into this forum recently and bought HRBN after looking at Mr. Market's recommendation and doing my own due diligence. I would like to thank Mr. Market for this amazing forum, and the many individuals who share their infinite wisdom here! I wish I had continued to log into this forum, as I probably could have done even better over the last few months.
I can't offer much, since I am still on the learning curve. But I thought I'd drop a line of praise for the efforts that are exemplified through this forum.
        Mr. Market- you the man!
        Cheers

i'm fortunate that i am in my own offices usually all day and i have the screens up and running from real early in the morning. i do set and use real stops but alot of my stops are done physically by me as i sit watching my stop loss point get wiped out. when i have a feeling about the opening the next day i will set a stop to cover the open. i know they are a necessity and invaluable in how they can protect you but they do have a negative side and you have to know how to use them and when. i dont usually set a running trailing stop on the computer but when i talk about trailing stops i mean physically bringing them up as the stock moves up. my stops are based on points of support like a moving average or a fibonacci retracement line and previous highs and lows. good luck and great play on HRBN. maxing out on the trade, limiting losses with a discipline and plan are what it takes. i feel confident that the stock will go past ernie's target and sooner if the markets continue their move up.

Thanks for the kind words. We have a lot of great people here on this forum. One word of caution:

I don't make recommendations. I merely tell people what I am buying and selling. Everyone has different risk tolerances and capital constraints so the most important thing to remember is that everyone should do their own homework.

              Nice buy, MM

of course I was working and missed it, but I have 3 weeks until earnings and I have no doubt the trend remain positive going into them.

There's a chance with earnings that HRBN will soar past $20 in the next few weeks. Will you still sell at $18.?? (whatever your target was) or just ride it out past earnings for a bigger gain?

                              Thanks,
