Thank you! And mr. Turner is either unbelievably over the top extreme right or, as a confirmed con man, he goes where the gullibility is. Or at least a sizeable chunk of it.

A Bolivian Money Summit!
What appears to be true is a recent Summit in Bolivia which is promoting the "Sucre" which is to be a new currency aimed at reducing the use of the dollar. The plan is to implement the Sucre in 2010. I wonder what effect this will have on GOLD .....if any. Of course it will not be helpful to the American dollar.

I checked, but the ALBA (the political group that has adopted the Sucre) is rather small:
The article aslo mentions that some member states already have adopted another regional currency, the East Caribbean dollar.
And there are other currencies waiting to replace or diminish the US dollar as "general" currency, like the Euro

On the one hand, yes, as Chavez from Venezuela en Morales from Bolivia are not above gesture politics. On the other hand, no, as it will facilitate trade between these countries (if they get the kinks worked out) and, perhaps the most important, it is another sign of a globalization trend. (The Euro also fits that trend.) These regional zones/currencies will influence world trade and world finance sooner or later, but to what extent? I don't know.Originally posted by Peter Hansen View PostKarel thanx for your followup.....so I guess the Bolivian summit was "much ado over nothing"?
