    Marty's view for today

Seriously, look at the chart posted in the link! River

Really? 9 out of 10 S&P 500 stocks now have a positive Strength level?
The actual percentage of S&P stocks with positive Strength was 90.4% at the close on Friday.
This is the third time since January 4th. that this level has appeared ... see today's posted chart. Actually, the previous two had percentages of 90.8% before stopping. So Friday's level is the third time it was getting close to the 90.8% level.
What is one way of describing 9 out of 10 stocks with positive Strength? The answer is "Overbought".

One thing for sure, billy, is that the market is always changing. We have to keep a finger on its pulse. I believe that there are a lot of short term speculators in the market now, a "pump and dump" mentality. Many have been clobbered by "buy and hold" in the recent past. The pendulum swings to extremes and always reverts to the mean.

I've never heard an explanation for the high prices for PCLN, ISRG, or Chipotle. Is there a small float of shares available for these?

NFLX made $8M yet gained $2.3B in mkt cap.
AAPL made $13B and lost $59B in mkt cap.

    Go figure.
And I remember owning shares of NFLX at $10.00 per share. I definitely did not look to the future. Good lesson learned.

Louetta, you must have been a toddler if you joined Mr.Mkt. forum in 2003.

I was an avid reader of IBD back then. About that time a very large, somewhat boisterous man began trumpeting his stock picking system in the IBD forums, at least implying it was better than O'Neil's, much to the irritation of the IBD regulars. Had to take a look at his site and am still here.

Earnings in a few minutes. Is this a new beginning or the beginning of the long decline?

Interesting. Bought a $450 call today.

Three months later, this is perhaps the worst trade I made all year.
