Portfolio of the Week 2010

Welcome everyone !

A new year begins to show off your stock picking skills ! This year I've made a few small changes, these additions have been added to the Rules section, but I will highlight the main changes here:

• Have adopted the Gold, Silver, Bronze practice
• Winning can be through your ROI, most Gold medals, or most Medals
• Must have at least one gain, and one loss to attain the bonus win of the Math Expectancy or Kelly Value
• Have included a new Stock Picking form that reduced my workload, and enters your pick immediately
• You must be a Mr. Market member for your form entry to be valid
• Bonus: If Mr. Market allows, I will be giving a cash award for any one who can attain all 3 wins, ROI, most Gold Medals, and most Medals

Some things I will add as we go along, such as quarterly charts, full year running chart, etc etc. Just want to get a couple weeks of data before starting. All links are listed in my signature, including the Stock Picking form, POTW scoreboard, POTY Scoreboard, and a new Summary section that allows you to compare yourself to everyone else a little easier. As well as the Rules of course. I am up for rule changes up until 2/1/10 so please feel free to give input on or off the forum until then. After that, they will be locked.

Again, congratulations to our 2009 Portfolio of the Week winners IIC, Karel, and RL ! Stock picking begins this week, so let the games begin ! Good luck everyone !

BesV, unfortunately you can only have one pick at a time during the week, but you can change your pick 2 more times after your initial. You can even go to cash on the 3rd pick, which I haven't seen anyone do yet.... I think you tried to submit 3 entries at once... ?

Wooish grabs first place already with a nice +22% gain off of HURC ! Knocked right out of the park, and solidly in first place, congrats !
Hurco Companies, Inc. is an industrial technology company. The Company designs, manufactures and sells computerized machine tools to companies in the metal working industry through a worldwide sales, service and distribution network.

Steelman follows up with another double digit win of +10% jumping on board with CEU ! Well done ! This is looking to be a great start with gains like this
China Education Alliance, Inc. is an education service company that provides online education and onsite training in China.

Rob grabs bronze with +6% with KMGB ! An almost similar start from last year too ! Congrats
KMG Chemicals, Inc. manufacture, formulate and globally distribute specialty chemicals. The Company has acquired and operates segments engaged in the electronic chemicals, industrial wood preserving and animal health businesses.

I'll be adding the 3 Major Indices to the chart next week to both follow and beat Good luck all !

However I see you entered 3 picks again. You can only pick one, then close that one to open another. Up to 3 times during the week. The 3rd pick can either be Cash or must be held until close on Friday. I'll take your latest pick again unless I hear back from you before open tomorrow.

BesV, I couldn't reply to you for some reason. Looks like your settings are set to not accept PM's, didn't know you could do that But not a problem, you can change your pick 100 times before tomorrow so no big deal, though please don't change it 100 times, too much deleting for me on this end

Hi Ody..thnx for your replies and sorry for the extra work..in this case I will go with BCRX (expect this one to do well this week) even though SOLF is my favourite ..as for my settings, I'm gonna check that cause I didn't change anything, those are the default settings, but thnx for letting me know..
