    ok,

so give me AI (the stock, not artificial intelligence). It was a toss-up between that and CIM, both in the MBS business paying a 16.7% divvy.

... I gotta find a good stock paying more than 16.09% to ensure I get both stars and all three asterisks! this's gonna be fun!!!

Here are the dividend stocks with their official entry price and dividend % adjusted to price.

    Wooish: NYB 13.30, 7.52%, VZ 38.54, 5.19%
    Hags: APL 38.91, 5.55%, ETR 71.92, 4.62%
    Louetta: T 30.46, 5.78%, UVV 46.68, 4.20%
    em26jamie: AGNC 28.33, 19.77%, WPZ 62.77, 4.76%

    billy: SO 45.87, 4.12%, IDE 15.73, 11.44%
    ski : MO 28.65, 5.72%, DUK 22.11, 4.52%
    Mr.Market: BPT 115.95, 9.11%, MLU 63.32, 5.92%

    IIC: ED 62.10, 3.86%, HE 26.79, 4.63%
    Phoenix: TNH 170.45, 9.29%, SXL 38.46, 4.29%
    River : FSC 9.73, 13.05%, KMP 84.48, 5.49%

    Peanuts: MBT 15.06, 6.79%, BWP 28.77, 7.33%
    Trader: SCCO 31.57, 8.87%, TNK 3.73, 16.09%
    Deaddog: NLY 16.10, 14.16%, AIXG 13.81, 6.10%
    Jiesen: HHS 9.11, 3.51%, AI 20.71, 16.90%

I'm feeling generous today so there will be more than a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. A gold star with an * will be given to the person picking the lowest yielding stock that appreciates the most in price and a gold star with 2 ** will go out to the guru picking the highest div. stock gaining the most in price over the course of the year.

My prediction: The aggregate gains by % of these stocks will be greater than the % gain of the DJIA in 2012.

    em26jamie,
25 great dividend stocks have been picked but I'm sure you could find 2 more, maybe even the possible winners.

    Correct,
A stock price increase that lowers the yield below 3.5% won't eliminate you. Only a company ordered dividend decrease to <3.5% will.

    The simple rules:

Name 2 stocks that pay at least a 3.5% dividend and will appreciate at least 11% from opening price of 2012.*

As an added bonus you can enter anytime before market open Jan 9th.

If dividend is lowered during 2012 the stock is eliminated. (if lowered<3.5)

To help keep the national debt in check, 1st prize will be a gold star (paper), 2nd prize silver star, etc.

No duplicate entries first posted gets the pick.
I'm going to research now. Price for splitters will be adjusted accordingly.

    * if you are entering a stock between Jan. 3rd and Jan 9th the div. must be at least 3.5% when entered (early year price increases could effect div)
As long as the div. is 3.5% or above when posted you'll be safe all year unless company officially lowers it.
Is it eliminated if the company lowers the dividend only? If the yield goes down below 3.5% due to price increase after the 9th ,it's still good, right?

I got a great example today in the mail of what reinvesting dividends can do in the long run. NJR, sent me their annual report. NJR only pays a 3.09% dividend as of today's close, lower than any of our contestants' picks.
Yet, since 1995, $10,000 put into NJR stock with dividends reinvested would give you $81,875 as of Oct. 2011. They regularly increase dividends. Example: 2007-$1.01/sh 2011- $1.44/sh. I'd like to have 8X the cash I had in 1995. And imagine reinvesting with just 3 examples from these submitted picks: Riverbabe's FSC-13.05%, Phoenix's TNH-9.29%, or Mr. Market's BPT-9.11%. Is anybody putting their $$ in bank savings accts. anymore?

and I have been investing in it since 1978 and turning the divy's back into stock and never, never took a nickel out of it but just kept plowing those divys back into more stock and buying as much as I could afford on the splits. I am so happy that you bought into it billyjoe.

    Hey Ski,

I've been looking over your shoulder and waiting for a trend....much the same as many here.....also diggin' copper and silver with billyjoe and waitin' for a bottom to load up the chest....and readin' the topics and waitin' for Mr. M to pull the pin in 2012....

I haven't heard from spike since last march, Lye stops in at the old chat box now and then...but last I heard his parents weren't doing to well....Thom closed his futures chat box and Drew and him disappeared....

Happy New Years to you and yours.....
