    Need 1 Great Stock

Mrs. Billy is getting a lump sum retirement benefit from a previous employer. It will be rolled into an existing IRA. I'll be managing the IRA and will be investing in 10 stocks, many high dividend payers. All divs. will be reinvested into more stock. Many of these will be stocks we already own, but we need a couple more ideas. They don't necessarily have to be dividend stocks but it would be great if they were. So far this is a tentative breakdown:

    V---credit card, NYCB---banking, PM---consumer products, NJR--utility

    IDE----construction,infrastructure, HQL---healthcare, CODI-div. industry

AGNC---housing related, other possibilities SBUX, PNRA, ULTA

There won't be much trading, probably a minimum holding period of 6 months per stock. A maximum of 20% of the funds will be used for swing trading. None of the swing trading stocks will be more than 3-4% of the total.

I know there are some great stock minds out there. If you could only buy 1 stock and you were confident in it for at least the next several months what would you choose?

    Slw

Well I see you're missing on the precious metals area. Why not SLW? There is no other silver company that has as big a profit margin as they do. When silver goes up, and it will, they are golden!

Hi Billy: I’m not really sure what it is you are looking for.(Same as everyone else a sure winner)

Not sure what your objective for the stock is. Are you looking for a long term hold, a short term pop, a value stock or one with momentum?

      To answer your query I ran a scan for the fundamentals I look at; then looked for dividend payers. The stock I came up with was RNF;

Fundamentally sound, not a bad dividend and setting up for a technical breakout. The stock has doubled since last year and is in a consolidation pattern.

IDB Gives it a composite rating of 96 and shows it as a group leader.

Seagate also showed up.(STX) along with a couple of REITs with payouts over 10% (CYS & MTGE)

I’ll throw it out for your consideration and warn you not to take tips from unknowns on the Internet.
It is hard to find the Truth when you start your search with a preconceived notion of what the Truth will be.

          Noshady and Deaddog,
Thanks for your suggestions. I've owned SLW before and you might know from previous posts I've been stockpiling the real thing for a few years as well as copper. I'll check out the other symbols. Always good to open up the portfolio to new companies and ideas.

This was just recommended to me by a friend. Nice chart and nice increase in EPS from this year to next.

Thanks, Hags, I've got some of those already. Gold in my teeth, gas, at my age it's expected, seeds and stems, land that's flooded with water, silver in my few remaining hairs, no guns as my biceps have atrophied.

I've been hearing about Genworth alot in the last few days. One thing I think you can notice about the chart is that there is some seasonal strength that occurs from November/December until early in the new year. A positive for the stock in Canada is that it's only competitor is a "government" corporation and now capped in its lending ability. Genworth will only gain market share as a result.

How about AAPL at this level. P/E of 12, 2% yield, is there any reason to think sales will disappoint long-term?

Came here to say this. I did not leave disappointed. It's been beaten down since Sept OPEX. Now might be a good time to buy. Usually when its P/E gets around 12 it's time to buy.

A 10% owner bought a ton of this stock on 12/11. This site (under insiders) shows that he bought almost $300M worth but when you look at the cost column you can see that they screwed that up so not sure what's accurate here. Regardless, worth a look.

                        Thoughts????
