Mrs. Billy is getting a lump sum retirement benefit from a previous employer. It will be rolled into an existing IRA. I'll be managing the IRA and will be investing in 10 stocks, many high dividend payers. All divs. will be reinvested into more stock. Many of these will be stocks we already own, but we need a couple more ideas. They don't necessarily have to be dividend stocks but it would be great if they were. So far this is a tentative breakdown:
V---credit card, NYCB---banking, PM---consumer products, NJR--utility
IDE----construction,infrastructure, HQL---healthcare, CODI-div. industry
AGNC---housing related, other possibilities SBUX, PNRA, ULTA
There won't be much trading, probably a minimum holding period of 6 months per stock. A maximum of 20% of the funds will be used for swing trading. None of the swing trading stocks will be more than 3-4% of the total.
I know there are some great stock minds out there. If you could only buy 1 stock and you were confident in it for at least the next several months what would you choose?
