That was a pretty good line. Actually, there was once a crisis on the rowing team. Many of the girls did not wear bras to practice. The effects of the spray generated during practice created what the coach deemed an unseemly display so bras were mandated. That was nice for the rest of us since the school then decided to supply them.Originally posted by billyjoe View PostWould that be because of their large endowment ?

No idea how far, but I take these times to evaluate the Mr. Market picks as their fundamentally based and those are the ones that will usually emerge winners once the smoke clears.Originally posted by sixfeetfour View PostHow far does DOW drop? You know how you're sometimes tempted to sell everything and go to cash? I've had some big dividend paying stocks in my retirement accounts , many for several years. I reinvest the dividends and hate to think of selling. Backtesting revealed an interesting result. In most cases the dividend payers don't take much of a hit in down markets. In fact returns are much greater when held thru bad markets. It makes sense in a way since more shares pile up when prices drop except if dividend is cut. A cut in dividend would make me sell. I checked 7 big dividend payers I hold to determine if the dividend is offsetting price drops. For the majority of these stocks, the price is up YTD. Here's a list with symbol followed by performance YTD, then % dividend.
CIVB----+7.11%YTD------div. 1.83%
HQL-----+10.94%YTD----div. 7.37%
KKR-----+1.14%YTD------div. 8.51%
CODI----+2.82%YTD-----div. 8.99%
IDE----- -2.68%YTD-----div. 10.01%
OZM----+13.60%YTD----div. 14.71%
ORC-----+14.83%YTD---div. 15.19%
