    Student Loan Debt

Has anyone thought about the fact that the trillion dollars in student loan debt is contributing to the fact that kids are graduating from college and staying with their parents? This means fewer home owners in the market place. Can't be good for home prices and home demand...your thoughts?

As a more or less recent college graduate methinks that a related contribution to this trend is liberalization of parents' attitudes towards their young adult children's behavior. If you are allowed more freedom to pursue your own lifestyle it makes it easier to stay living at home compared to previous generations. This would reinforce the trend you introduce.

Good point Louetta. I think kids like hanging around with their parents these days.

Career selection is important . Basket weaving courses may be fun......but job prospects are limited.
Friend of mine had a son who recently graduated Pharmacy School . He accepted a job working for CVS at a salary of 130K My son graduated with a degree in Marketing and finance , and he is making north of 100K .
My daughter graduated with a degree in communications , and she makes over 100K . Both do not live at home and have Zero student debt. I worked hard to put both through school, and it is paying off.
For one I am not in favor of student debt reduction financed by the taxpayers! Work hard stay focused and let them pay off their own student debt!

Well actually, if one involves oneself in the childrens' lives this can very well happen. E.g. male parents often bond with male children through sharing important activities as baseball, football, golf, wrestling, appreciating the female form and grilling large steaks. Oh, and pumping some iron.
