    Useful Screens ?

I'd like to know of any screens Mr. Market members use, especially out of the ordinary ones that help in picking stocks. The value of some such as earnings leaders are obvious, but what about some others that may seem unusual? I tracked screens of the day on IBD for over a year and the stocks that showed up all the time turned out to be leaders, but by the time they made their multiple appearances it was usually too late to purchase them. Someone mentioned looking for high EPS and low RS, that seems sensible. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks,

I look at stocks listed in the IBD forum "Some stocks on the verge of Breakouts!" and winnow this list down by eliminating any stocks that are not also on the IBD100. I then wait for a breakout on volume at least 100% higher than the 50 day average volume.

Generally I look for high RS stocks in Groups on the move without regard to the IBD EPS rating...I don't really care what a co. made 2 yrs ago...I care about what they are doing now and what they will do in the future...so I prefer good recent EPS and projections. Of course I am not a long term holder...I look for the quick buck and use mostly technicals...A long term hold for me is about 2 weeks...Best, IIC

        Mr. Money,

Interesting way of getting a list of stocks. I have used the IBD forum "some stocks on the verge of breakouts" and had some winners.

How has your screen worked with combining that list, being in the IBD100 and 100% volume surge ? Any info would be greatly appreciated..

          ytown12,

It has worked out very well so far. My latest stock selection using this approach was WLS. I purchased WLS at its breakout on 2/9 for $67.18.

I sold WLS yesterday (2/17) for $77.89 because it was starting to look topy (new highs with greatl;y reduced volume).

All in all a return of 15.94% over an 8 day holding period.

Other trades made using this method have been successful.

Right now I am looking at ARO and COH. Both are IBD 100 stocks, both are ready to breakout, but before I will purchase them they need to breakout with conviction (High Volume).

Thanks Mr. Money for the response. Very interesting especially the 100% volume requirement. I have been burned on several 50% breakouts in the past. I also like ARO and COH and looking at them closely.

            Thanks again..
