    Windows 10

Most people are making good reviews. "Easy as XP" they say. I am getting ready to install.

Here is what Fortune Magazine said yesteday:

Despite some initial bugs, reviewers love Microsoft's new operating system.

Apparently, I'm on the list but the "permission" hasn't come yet.

When I signed up for the free download, I told them to notify me when they were ready.

There should be a "Windows Key" on the lower right side of the taskbar, next to the network and volume icons (assuming you have Windows 8 or 8.1). If you "mouse-over" the Windows Key, it says "Get Windows 10". Or you can go to this link

Find out how to get Windows 11 from Microsoft. Check your PC’s compatibility against the system requirements to see if you can upgrade to Windows 11.

Here's a little primer that looks useful on how to manipulate the new start menu. I'm sure there's lots of stuff on 10 out there.

I run an IT department, one of my techs beta tested 10. He said it was pretty good. He said anyone running Windows 8 would be better off with 10, and anyone running 7 would be better off just sticking with 7 because there was little difference between 7 and 10. He couldn't find any "must have" feature in 10 other than it fixes all the garbage and problems that 8 had.
Math doesn't lie, but people do.

This is all helpful. Thank you all. I may just stick with 7 for a while to allow them to fix the few identified glitches. The free upgrade is available for a year, as I understand it.

                billy and others,

I have had it for a little over 2 weeks now. It has a much better feel than Win 8. I have over 40 years in the computer business. I still like XP better. They (Microsoft) seem to want to make the desktop look like an Iphone or an Ipad.

I figure I'm going to convert my backup laptop, which runs 8.1 which I never want to use, to 10 after Labor Day. That way they have a chance to make any obvious fixes to 10 that need be done. Then I can get some exposure to 10. On Black Friday I plan to buy a new desktop which pretty certain. Might leave my main laptop running 7. After all I left my old desktop running XP until it retired last year and I like 7. Stuff I've read implies one can make 10 look more like 7 and less like a mobile device.

Converted my backup laptop which ran 8.1 to 10. Feel like I have a new machine since I could do nothing with 8.1. So far have had no problems. Took about 2 hours to convert. All I know right now is it will run Photoshop Elements 8 and I was able to restore my photos from backup media (DVD and a thumbdrive). The photo stuff was important to me. I like the look and feel of it but I am not a computer person.

I have a friend who does not own a TV. He uses Windows Media Center TV and says Windows 10 abandons Media Center. This is a problem for him. I gather they want you to move to an Xbox. I don't know any more (tho I could find out) but if you are in his situation this could be important.

I downloaded Windows 10 , and now I have trouble with my HP ENVY 5530 Printer. It does not print. A message says , "No Connection With Your Computer?" I reloaded the HP program from the official HP site , and I am still having problems with the printer. Should have kept my Windows 7!

Is it a wireless connection? Best to google "my printer does not work after installing windows 10" and see if you can get a few ideas. Here is one that I found

Finally downloaded it. My old old printer works with it. Fun to navigate. So far I like what I see.

Speaking of new technology, I actually surprised the heck out of my oldest grandson yesterday (26), when he returned my phone call, with "Have you considered taking your grandma to see Star Wars? Heck, I took you to see all the Lord of the Rings movies." He laughed and said "You bet, grandma!" Couple of weeks. Soon.

I am waiting, like you, to see the movie - Star Wars et al are on my Top 20 All Time movies list.

Re: Windows 10 -I find myself using the new "Start" button at the lower left a lot - I do a search for what ever I want and Windows seems to know what I am looking for. I used XP for so long.
