Cows run from fear....they walk to food

People, and investors, do the exact same thing. If you know this, you'll always make money in the market.

He also said that panic is not an investment strategy. Very true...although widely ignored.

It may be tho that there have been some fundamental changes that will affect the markets. E.g. a slowdown in China, (semi-)permanently lower oil prices, banks hurt by more bad loans if oil companies and oil-producing nations can't pay their debt. Not reasons to panic, mayhap, but reasons we might expect lower stock prices are warranted. Tho maybe not in two days trading.

Meant to mention I think Cramer is worth listening to when times are tough even if his stock picks are indifferent most times.

Oh yes the cow analogy does bring to mind an old joke,"An old bull and a young bull are on top of a hill, looking down at a herd of cows.
The young bull taunts, “Hey old man, how about we run down this hill and have some fun with a couple of those cows.”
The old bull replies, “I have a better idea son; I’ll just walk down the hill and have fun with them ALL! "

Methinks now is a good time to start easing back into the market, if you've bailed at S&P 2000+, like I did. I'm happy to buy back at 1900 or thereabouts. I'm still saving more for the 1800s, in case it gets that far this time, though.

I sold about everything that was shakey. Saving the core stocks for now: AAPL, MA, DIS etc.

Me too. Have enough cash again to maybe get some real bargains. If only my crystal ball would let me know when we're at or near bottom.
