Powerball - who bought a ticket

Since the odds of winning are 292 million to 1 and the payout is $1.5 billion, it actually makes economic sense to buy a ticket.

I picked five of my own 5-digit numbers plus I picked 3 and 12 as the powerball. I figure if I lose, I would rather it be my picks and not the quick pick.

If everyone went out and bought 2 tickets (say 600 million were bought) then odds are there will be at least 2 winners. If you have to split it 2 or 3 ways, the payout is no longer $1.5B (or $422M up front post-tax), so you also need to factor that in to determine whether it's worth the risk... and the very real risk that someone on the inside is rigging the game so you *can't* win.
