Alex Rodriguez will of course be retiring on Friday. I wouldst opine as follows. In every sports bar in New England hangs a picture of the famous (in Boston) physical confrontation twixt A-Rod and former Red Sox catcher and captain Jason Varitek. To which I say, Varitek is wearing a catcher's mask. I mean I'll fight A-Rod if I get to wear a catcher's mask.

Methinks A-Rod's presence has helped other players financially. If A-Rod had not got 30 a season I would not think Ellsbury would have gotten 25.
