    When the Correction Comes

It's been a nice climb the last 100 days or so, the Trump Bump or irrational exuberance as someone once said. My concerns are the correction, and if anyone in these parts are feeling as I do; and planning. I am taking closer looks at what I hold and might just cut back on each 35 to 50%, and waiting to see.
Any thoughts on this and ideas? This stooge is stumped!

Gary, Say you sell all your stocks and are flush with cash. Then what? Do you stockpile gold, silver, bitcoin? That's the problem I see. Maybe cash isn't a good option either. Just in case, I'm buying extra wheel barrows to fill with cash on my way to the local market to get a loaf of bread. "Trot, trot back home again, the old horse is dead."

Ah ha! Wheel barrow futures, nyuk, nyuk!
i would just park the $$$, wait & try my luck at waiting and timing the market, I suppose. With at least half still invested, the cash would be ready to jump back in. "Meet the new horse, same as the old horse."
timing the market is frowned upon by many investors, but to safeguard your retirement savings in a temporary move to cash doesn't seem like a bad idea, the opportunity to get back in is always there.
      Thanks for your thoughts.

I think now is a great time to take profits if you have them to take. Fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful, etc, etc. However, I believe a great company could weather a correction.

My plan for this year is to hold my current position but wait to buy any more until AFTER a correction/panic/opportunity.
Math doesn't lie, but people do.

These are my current holdings with bought & current price:
          bought now
          APPL 95.29 136.69 panicking on a decision
BGCP 8.50 11.64 nice div. play for compounding will prob. sell half soon
NCR 42.56 48.61 Limit order at 15% (MrMKT tried & true method!)
TEGP 22.86 28.88 nice div, don't own enough to sell, will hold all
          INTC 36.33 36.06 floundering since I bought
WLDN 26.61 27.82 My advisor bought some recently and I decided to follow suit
Don't know anything on calls, shorting, just an old fashioned buy & sell country boy (stooge)

I've bought & sold some of Mr. Mkts' picks and am up more than 15% on some of these so I probably will select a few and sell about half of each,........or not.

An other thought is to write covered calls against positions you really prefer to hold. I tend to do this in my retirement accounts when I can grab some premium and if the pps drops I still own the shares and pocketed the $ from writing the call; and if the pps goes up I get called out and can always rebuy the shares. (The only time I would cringe is if a position got bought out at a high premium and I got called, but I never take any position in hopes of a buyout.)
