    CRUS ==> The Fugitive Winner

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
    And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
    It's cloud's illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

    - Judy Collins

Back in the 60’s, looking up at clouds was a favored pastime, particularly if one happened to be on acid. These days, people are not looking up – instead they are looking down…down at their smartphones. Now we certainly don’t know clouds at all. The highest clouds in the atmosphere are cirrocumulus, cirrus, and cirrostratus. Mid-level clouds include altocumulus and altostratus. The lowest clouds in the atmosphere are stratus, cumulus, and stratocumulus. My favorite cloud is Cirrus.

Yesterday I bought stock in Cirrus Logic (CRUS) at 64.51. I will sell it in 4 to 6 weeks at 74.38. Here’s why I like Cirrus.

First of all, look at this amazing chart. This stock is on a roll because it’s an amazing company. There’s a lot more room to run.

This stock is up 86% over the last 52 weeks, yet its PE is only 16. It’s an earnings machine. Why? Because people look at their smartphones every 5 seconds, that’s why. Cirrus provides innovative products for the world’s top smartphones, tablets, digital headsets, wearables and emerging smart home applications.

Cirrus Logic, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, develops, manufactures, and markets analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) for a range of consumer and industrial markets. It offers portable audio products, including analog and mixed-signal audio converters, and digital signal processing products for mobile applications; codecs-chips that integrate analog-to-digital converters and digital-to-analog converters into a single IC; smart codecs, a codec with digital signal processer; amplifiers; and micro-electromechanical systems microphones, as well as standalone digital signal processors. The company offers its products for mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets, digital headsets, wearables, smart accessories, and portable media players. Its products are also used in laptops, audio/video receivers, home theater systems, set-up boxes, portable speakers, digital camcorders, musical instruments, and professional audio products applications; and serve the automotive market, which include satellite radio systems, telematics, and multi-speaker car-audio systems. In addition, the company’s products are used in industrial and energy-related applications, including digital utility meters, power supplies, energy control, energy measurement, and energy exploration applications. It markets and sells its products through direct sales force, external sales representatives, and distributors in the United States and internationally. Cirrus Logic, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Cirrus Logic has the highest exposure to Apple of any other chip maker. Cirrus gets about 75% of its revenue from Apple. They are most indeed betting on the come. Here comes the iphone 8. The other wild upside potential will come from voice biometrics. Cirrus has made investments in voice and signal processing technology, all in an effort to ensure that its products find their way into smart home devices of the future.Ok Google, go make me a sandwich.

In the most recent quarter, earnings and sales growth jumped 128% and 50%, respectively. Looking forward, ANAL-ysts expect annual earnings are expected to grow 82% in fiscal year 2017.
Cirrus Logic increased its chip content in Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 7 by 70% compared with the iPhone 6S, Cirrus made more than double the revenue per phone for the iPhone 7 when compared to the iPhone 6. The take on the iPhone 8 will be even more.

Many smartphone laureates and Apple junkies project that the iPhone 8, will be the 'super' upgrade that everyone’s been waiting for that will see all of the old iPhones chucked in the garbage can for this new model.

Don’t forget that Cirrus Logic sells their components to the Android as well and that they also plan on expanding their chips for use in the not so smartphones so that their international sales will grow in the cheaper models as well.

To enhance the employee experience, Cirrus Logic fosters a culture of continuous improvement, with regular employee feedback directly contributing to new programmes and services. Noted for being a family-friendly company emphasising the work/life balance, Cirrus Logic also provides its employees with competitive salary and bonus programmes, equity and personal and professional development training to enhance career growth, patent recognition awards and an Innovations Conference.

Cirrus Logic last issued its quarterly earnings data on Wednesday, May 3rd. The semiconductor company reported $0.73 earnings per share for the quarter, topping estimate of $0.59 by $0.14. The company had revenue of $327.86 million for the quarter. Cirrus Logic has a return on equity of 26% and a return on assets of 16%. The firm’s revenue for the quarter was up 41% on a year-over-year basis. During the same period in the previous year, the firm posted $0.38 earnings per share. ANAL-ysts expect that Cirrus Logic will post $4.56 earnings per share for the current fiscal year (201. These awesome earnings numbers should be no surprise at all:

    • 10-year CAGR of 24% fueled by strong demand for portable audio products
    • FY17 revenue up 32% Y/Y to $1.5B
    · Demand for Audio & Voice in Smartphones Continues to Expand
    • Content expansion in flagship models
    • Penetration of mid-tier models accelerating
    • Interest from China OEMs increasing
    • Rapid Growth for Smart Accessories
    • Headset market transitioning to digital connectivity
    • Hi-Fi playback and ANC becoming important features
    • New form factors and use cases driving innovation
    • Exciting New Markets & Technology
    • Smart Home, AR/VR, Connected Car emerging
    • Proliferation of voice as interface
    • Secure, user identification & authentication
    • Accelerating R&D Investment in Key Projects
    • Heavily investing in new ventures, including digital headsets and voice biometrics

This isn’t a little bitty garage tech company. CRUS has a market capitalization $4.2B. During the key period of last 5 years, Cirrus sales have grown 29% on average. Increased demand for the company's smart codecs and boosted amplifiers drove revenue and profit higher. GAAP operating margin was 13.6%, up from 9.6% in the prior-year period. Cirrus ended the quarter with $451 million of cash and only $60 million of debt.

Cirrus provided the following guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2018: Revenue between $300 million and $340 million, up from $259 million during the prior-year period. GAAP gross margin between 48% and 50%. Cirrus's guidance reflects strong demand for its smart codecs, hi-fi DACs, and amplifiers.

Look around you in the restaurant. People aren’t talking to each other, they are looking at their smartphones. You are probably reading this on your smartphone. People watch football games on their smartphone. $$$$MR. MARKET$$$ is betting on Apple. If Apple wins, then CRUS will win big.

Here’s what the boss had to say:

Cirrus President and CEO Jason Rhode summed up fiscal 2017: "We are extremely pleased with Cirrus Logic's FY17 financial performance as we delivered outstanding revenue, operating profit and earnings-per-share growth. With a growing product line spanning the complete audio signal chain, Cirrus Logic expects to leverage our solid customer relationships and engineering execution to capitalize on our rapidly expanding growth opportunities."

With this latest stock pick, I am going to stack up my cash to the clouds - cirrocumulus, cirrus, and cirrostratus. I am HUGE!

CRUS is a great pick! Look at that low PEG, look at those huge earnings and sales increases. Look at that chart. May be one of the best picks ever.

Oversold, looks like a great short term and maybe long term buying opportunity, long term if the next earnings report Aug 2nd is good.
