    Section 199A Might Help If You Own REIT and Similar Stocks

    I'm no tax expert but if your 1099-div shows an entry on line 5 for section 199A dividends mayhap you can take a deduction on line 9 of your 1040. This is new this year. There are some qualifications, all of which seem unlikely unless you are high income but otherwise methinks you can deduct 20% of the 199A dividend figure on line 9, 1040. There's a discussion starting on line 34 of the 1040 instructions and a worksheet on page 37.

    This is still true except this year it's line 10 on 1040 and you have to file Form 8995 which is dick easy to fill out. Still don't understand why they didn't make it a credit since the president is in real estate.
