Mr. Market,
You had the idea. Lets see how many teams will enter the March Madness Stock Pickers Tournament. Pick your five best stocks (players) no substitutes allowed. Play starts as of opening prices Thursday March 18 and ends as of closing price Monday April 5th coincidentally the same dates as the NCAA basketball tournament. The entry fee is ten units of the finest meats and cheeses. All units will be paid out to the winners. If you can't afford the fee borrow it from Mr. Market his refrigerators and storage facilities are overflowing and he's so bound up from eating cheese wheels that his bricks are breaking his toilet tanks. Make sure your players have the fundamentals. Technicals are encouraged.
Each stock starts with a stake of $2000 play money with a total of $10000 per team. Total high dollar amount as of market closing Monday April 5th will win the units of fine meats and cheeses provided by entry fees.
Even the losers will win fine consolation prizes. Last place finisher wins the Kenneth Lay " I don't know nothin' about anything" award. Runner up loser gets the Joe Granville memorial "the sky is falling" award.
Remember to post your 5 here before the market opens Thursday March 18th. Having perfected my stock picking model after years of trial and error I'll post the Billyjoe University team 5 along with some biographical info in the next couple of days. Watch out for my darkhorse center who just happens to be on leave from the middle east. I swear he really is a student at BJU.
