    Encore Le Tour Femmes

The second Tour de France Femmes began today. Eight days, I understand. I'm sure the girls version will stimulate all the interest here as did the men's. Actually, I found last year's version a tad disappointing. Of course the girls aren't as fast as the guys but the quality of the riding was a little ragged, lots of crashes and poor bike handling. Of course, it will take the girls years to implement a really high quality race, but as a girl I hoped for more last year. Anyway, bonne chance, mesdames et mademoiselles.

It's always great to see women pushing their physicality.

My son participated in a sprint triathlon east of Cleveland several years ago. He did great in the swimming (6th person out of Lake Erie), but his real love was the cycling. Then he got smoked by a 65-70 year old woman that passed him like he was standing still. He found out she was ranked #1 in the U.S. in her age group.
