newbie help with esmc and mpp

I have 2 stocks that I need help with esmc and mpp.

I bought esmc at 17.17 (now at 18.70)and mpp at 9.20(now at 10.90). Waht do you think I should do with them? Anyone have an idea as to when i should sell? i think i have a pretty good buy strategy, but my sell startegy is not developed to well. Let me know what you think of these 2. I feel like the guy who goes to atlantic city and wins big the first time down. He gets spoiled and greedy. I have only invested in 3 stocks so far IDSA, MPP AND ESMC. IDSA i bought at 11.35 and sold the next week at 38.00. too bad i didnt have a ton of money in it. I realize i have been very lucky and know i will take my lumps but its good right now.

    Getting In and Getting Out

There is no point to getting into an investment unless you know in advance when/how to get out.

You've made 3 well-timed picks so far? How did you do it? Do you believe you can make those kinds of picks again? What made these stocks attractive to you to begin with? If they are still attractive, then keep them. If you are interesting solely in building your bankroll ASAP, then sell 'em and look for the next batch of winners.

You can make those determinations based on: (1) what you know about the overall stock market, (2) what you know about the industries that your stocks's companies play in, (3) what you know about the companies themselves whose stocks you now hold, (4) what you observe about the charts for the stocks you now hold.

You have to figure whether your ability to find the next winner is as strong or stronger as the likelihood of near-term appreciation by the stocks you're holding today.

      YOUR DOING GREAT

I don't think anyone wants to give advice as you never know what the market will do. But you already have at least !5% so let It run for a while It will not keep going straight up but It's going higher. If It drops back to your 15% profit you can sell at that time and still have a nice gain.
Try to let It go 8 weeks If you can.
GOOD LUCK ON WHAT EVER YOU DO

          thanks

I guess part of what i was asking is how mr market determines his sell points. I can lock in my profits to an extent, but its hard to decide when a stock is fairly valued. Mr market has a valuation model he uses and i wanted to see if anyone had a fir value for these stocks. PS MPP was up $1.66 and broke thru its 52 week high today. Its numbers on ibd are pretty good. Funny though cause ibd seems to catch all of its stocks on the top 100 after they have had their run. Like i said I had idsa for a few weeks and it was going straight up, with great ibd ratings but still did not show up on the top 100 until a few days before it peaked at 47.5, it dropped to 28 since then. I think its better to grab the lower than $15 stocks exhibiting all of ibd's good qualities and let em run. Mpp 9.20 to 12.10 in under 2 weeks. most of the top 100 have not faired as well.

I have and excellent answer on what you should do with your current account. Send all your money and stocks/holdings to me. I will not charge you a penny to take your money and you will not have to worry about getting it back. ITs the perfect solution. I do charge a small fee to let a trader do this but im sure we can work something out.

WOW! ESMC IDSA and MPP for your first three stock picks?? I'd say you stepped in it pretty nicely there, fella. How in the world did you land in the middle of that so early on in your trading experience?
My 2cents worth, ESMC and IDSA have had some nice spikes and could fall back a bit. I'd be grabbin the money fast, not even worrying where the doors gonna hit me on the way outta there. Then soon as the dust settles, I'd be right back for mo money! I'm not familiar with MPP. Chart doesn't look quite as eager for a pullback though. But in the words of the great Roseanna Roseannadanna, "you n e v e r knoooooow." (smile)
                Good Luck!

on second thought and look, I would think MPP would pull back a bit but will then continue on up a little more. But all three of these can jigsaw at this stage.

And if the most handsomest, most huge one wouldn't mind 2 more cents worth from me, my tea leaf analysis leads me to like ATVI, SKIL, AH, AWGI (although it gives me the creeps...or you could even say, "it leaves me cold." haaahahaha) , and MGAM (that stock is a real thriver if ever there was one.) I am surprised no one ever suggested HDI. With the high season coming up for all aging baby boomers with too much money in their pockets and too much time on their hands wanting to hit the road, I'd have thought it would've been in there. I like it! People that buy them (the really nice ones) don't much care what the economy is doing.
Many other good ones in the bunch though.
                    Thanks for listening.

Gentlemen, please excuse one more interruption of your Sunday Morning, but I want to point out to lucky dog smitty not to forget that concerning IDSA and it's volatility, on March 30, a 2:1 split takes place. That could certainly shake things up a bit.

                        reply

                        1. i do not have a problem with gay guys. i have a problem with people who are sarcastic and read posts to try and irritate people.
                        2. I no longer own idsa, but should have bought back in last week, it has been steadily climbing like it did before the plunge.
3.Mpp just broke its 52 week high and is up 1.50 today...do i pull the trigeer or stay on board? i may just put in a sell stop.....still need advice on this one.
                        3. mcsc is up 2.50 today. I realize the market is up today but both of these were up nicely on friday on a so so day. am i being ignorant or are these signs that the they should both do well when the market picks up (like it looks like its going to)?
any thoughts would be appreciated as long as they are not ridiculous....

Excuse me Gentlemen, but reading over my messages it seems i've run together Michaels question and his good fortune with his picks, with Smittys reply. Forgive the confusion. all the testosterone on this board must have given me the vapors. (smile)
And smitty, really, no one is being nasty around here. no need to take offense.

I want to make one thing clear. NOBODY, NOT ONE SOUL, no matter how green, EVER take any of my advice. I've looked at what those stocks have done and one thing is clear... I KNOW NOTHING!!!!!!! NADDA!!! The seventies were too good to me. The pot has not yet let the building!
