Announcing the bigger and better than ever, 2025 Pick of the Year (PotY) contest!

Sound the fanfares! Launch the fireworks! Pop the party poppers!

On behalf of your humble hosts, JohnHenry and BlueWolf, welcome to the 2025 edition of the Pick of the Year (PotY) contest!

    The Rules.
    1. Any stock trading on the NASDAQ, AMEX, NYSE or OTC can be picked.
    2. You designate your pick by replying to this thread.
    3. You are only allowed one pick.
    4. You have until Sunday, February 2, 2025 up to 11:59 PM PST to make a pick without a penalty.
    5. The contest starts with the opening bell on Monday, February 3, 2025.
    6. Your starting price will be the Friday, January 31, 2025 closing price.
    7. You are allowed to change your pick without penalty as long as you do so before the entry deadline.
    8. You are not allowed to change a submitted pick after the entry deadline.
    9. You can choose either a Long or Short position, which you must specify when you designate your pick.
    10. If no position type (Long or Short) is specified, Long will be assumed.
    11. IPOs are allowed, even if the IPO is scheduled to occur after the entry deadline as long as the IPO stock is designated by the entry deadline. The starting price will be the opening price of the first day of the IPO.
    12. A late pick may be submitted after February 2, 2025, but a 20% penalty of the opening price will be added. No picks are allowed after February 28, 2025.
    13. If a pick is delisted, it’s final price will be the closing price when delisted.
    14. A reverse split, split, or symbol change will be accommodated by the scoring system.

Discussions and concerns are welcome. Good Luck!

I want to pick BJ as my stock for this year.

The earnings are good, the p/e isn't too high, and the momentum is higher.

I would like ORCL long, please.

Assuming Molly is again welcome, she would like MGX long.

Thanks from both of us for doing this.

Your picks are duly noted, and of course Molly is welcome. She had a great pick last year.

Thanks. Molly would like to switch to ANET long if its not too much trouble. That will be it, no more changes after that. Thanks.

I'm wondering if 2025 will be a year for massive gains, several contestants with 100% plus or a modest number of gains in the 10-25% range.

No problem. Molly now has ANET. Good stock, BTW. I’ve made a lot of money off ANET.

My dad would like to play this year too. He wants SPY as his pick. He actually has given up trading the market and only wants to pick SPY for his investing. My mom likes PDD but I think amazon will win out in the long run. My brother is still obsessed with crypto and he is basing his whole life on its future. My nephew only watches tik tok and youtube shorts. I guess there is no winning in speculating like I did in PDD and trading Canslim. But I think we learn from things that don't work and not learning from it keeps us from ever succeeding.
